Giro Foray Cycling Helmet

Having just bought my first road bike wanted a helmet that didn't make me look like a mushroom (as my old general purpose helmet did), and as the Giro Foray gets rave reviews over the internet and is a reasonable price thought I'd invest in one. The helmet itself is good looking, others say that it resembles the top of the range Giro helmet but personally I don't see that much connection, it also looks like a lot of competitors makes as well. However at least now I can cycle round with my head held high and no longer feel I look like an alien that has just landed from outer space! The best bit about this helmet is the Roc Loc 5 retention system; one twist of the small dial at the back and you can get a near as perfect fit, and the helmet feels very secure. You can also adjust the height at the back by pushing the helmet up and down. For me where this helmet falls down are in the padding and the straps. Basically there isn't a lot of padding, a few thin strips on the front half of the helmet is all you get. This is a shame as by using the Roc Loc system I can get a really good fit, but because of the thin padding I can feel the hard plastic against my head. I'm seriously thinking about trying to get some extra padding strips to put inside the helmet. Also when I'm out on a ride and start to sweat (which I do lot!) I've noticed that the sweat runs down the front of my face; I never had this with my old helmet and wonder if it's because the thin padding doesn't absorb as much. It also has a split at the front so maybe the sweat channels in between the padding strips.As for the straps the problem here is that the front and back straps go into the side buckle at an angle but the buckle isn't designed for this; it is only designed for a straight strap. This means that one or both of the straps lies at angle against your face causing irritation. After much fiddling I've managed to get a fairly comfortable position, but it could be better. So overall this helmet is good looking, good fitting and not too expensive, but with a but more thought in the design of the padding and straps could have been so much better ... so only 4 stars.BTW this is no reflection on 37 South Sport as they were 5 star, delivering the helmet very quickly at the cheapest price I could find.

This helmet came today. Nice box with little packaging and plastic which is refreshing to see! Helmet fitted pretty much perfectly straight out the box really nice design and compact. Overall prefer it over my old Catlike helmet, more vents and nicer adjustments on rear of helmet.Fills great on the head and I brought a cycling cap to wear with it and feels really nice when both on.Would fully recommend this product. I’m a London rider and cycle north to south everyday, feel waaaayyyy safer wearing this helmet!!Perfect !! 👌🏽

I bought this to replace my Met cycle helmet which was getting old and replacement liners had become obsolete. I’m very pleased with the Giro Foray having ordered the highlight green/yellow colour to maintain good visibility to other road users. The Rec Loc system is great for a really good fit when tightened up, making me realise how loose my previous helmet had been in use. Check the Giro website sizing guide here....[...]....to ensure the correct size is ordered. Ventilation and build quality appear very good and there’s just enough room to fit a thin skull cap underneath for the winter - again the Rec Loc system coming in useful to make the necessary adjustments. It’s good value too, so top marks.
