On the plus side, this stuff stopped my fish deaths from water changes. That's right: brand new dechlorinated tap water was killing them. I finally traced the problem to ammonia, which is a byproduct of chloramine treatment. But some people claim it doesn't work, probably because ammonia is hard to measure accurately. (My own test kit was off my a factor of 10 vs. a machine used by a water test lab that helped find the problem.) So for this reason, people don't necessarily use enough (but of course you don't want to use too much, either). Moreover, the effect is transient, if for no other reason than that fish waste will continue to accumulate. So this a one-shot attempt to solve a dynamic problem, and as such, is only useful in combination with ongoing measurements. My advice for freshwater aquarists is to use tons of plants and biological filtration to keep the ammonia in check; use this stuff in combination with dechlorinator strictly for the purpose of treating the tank just minutes before new tap water comes in. Note that Stress Coat claims to do the work of both, but I prefer separate liquids because, like most aquarists, I have a much bigger ammonia problem than a chlorine problem.

The cost and speed of this item was well worth it. Most pet shops do not have this item readily available. Took 24 hrs to receive .

This product does work, but you have to understand HOW it works. It does not remove ammonia from your pond, it merely neutralizes it. So your test strips are still going to show a high ammonia level, although it is a SAFE ammonia level.So how do I judge? Sluggish fish mean an application is needed, happy fish mean the water is fine. Best you can do with this product.

This product does exactly what it suppose to do, DETOXIFY ammonia. Ammonia tests will still show positive for ammonia because it is still present, just not in a toxic state. I have been swearing by this for years in my slighty over crowded pond. The other reviewers here obviously don't realize how this product works. Pondcare products are the best pond products on the market, and affordable too.
