Product Description The Veronicas are Jess and Lisa Origliasso, 20-year-old identical twins from Brisbane, Australia-and they are going to rock your world. Adding a tough edge to teen powerpop, and the looks and savyy to back it up, The Veronicas were signed to an exclusive production deal with Engine Room on the strength of their first demo. With their irresistible debut album, The Secret Life of the Veronicas, written and produced by the likes of Billy Steinberg (Madonna), Clif Magness (Avril Lavigne), Max Martin (Britney Spears), Dr. Luke (Kelly Clarkson), Don Gilmore (Linkin Park) and Toby Gad (Enrique Iglesias), among others, the secret is out about The Veronicas. .com Good thing we live in an age of internet-accessible lyrics. Otherwise, millions of teenage girls might find themselves mumbling through this collection of burn-the-joint-down pop instead of belting it out, which will be not only their first instinct but also their feverish, feverish desire. As a flip through about any teen magazine confirms, the Veronicas are a pair of identical twins from Australia who ooze coltish charm, volatility, and an aversion to jugheaded songcraft. Their debut does not belie the glossy claims: "4ever," the single leading the flock, crashes the gate with a punk-slanting, slightly Avril Lavigne-y boy tease, and though the energy stalls a bit on sleepers like "Speechless" and "Nobody Wins," it more than resurrects itself with the smart lyrics of "Secret" and the lathered-on boldness of "Mother, Mother," the most smokin' track Lindsay Lohan never sang. Part Bangles, part Benatar, and all babe, the Veronicas have crafted a 12-song bender that crushes the short-skirted competition. -Tammy La Gorce

♥Every Single Song♥
I don't know what happened to The Veronicas, cuz EVERY song is good. I find myself singing them around the house...and I only listen to this in my car. My daughter turned me on to this cd years ago. I asked her about them recently and she said, "Get it on Amazon, Mom." So I did. And I'm so glad! Thank you! ♥♥♥

Welcome to their world
*4.5 stars*Upon first glance, it would seem that The Veronicas have it all. Drop dead gorgeous looks, and raw talent to match? In 2006, singers with both of these traits are quite hard to come by. And out of all of sister acts that appeared in the mid 2000s, such as Aly and AJ, The Veronicas are by far the best. Unlike Aly and AJ, who rose to fame through Disney, Jess and Lisa Origliasso aren't just two girls singing songs, they have an image all their own. If you take the sweetness of Aly and AJ, mix it in with the brat of Avril Lavigne, and then topped it off with the image of t.A.T.u, you get The Veronicas. But they're not making music for the headlines, and they don't offer any gimmicks, they are real girls who sing about real life situations. They're the fresh faces that the music industry was dying to have in 2006. And they offer alot of style and flare, starting off the album with "4Ever" and ending it with "Mother, Mother". This album is a great journey from start to finish. The Veronicas hire the best, Dr. Luke and Max Martin, to produce infectious pop songs, and then they take the reigns and sell each and every one as if it was written all by themselves. Another thing that other singing acts could not seem to accomplish. Although, with such great, anthemic pop here, there is bound to be some songs that are sub-par. In this instance, "Mouth Shut" and "Speechless", their ballads, weigh down this album considerably. But don't worry, they quickly pick up speed and get back to songs like "Leave Me Alone", "When it all falls apart", and the album's best track, "I could get used to this." And in addition to those great assets, there's no use in trying to deny the power of "Everything I'm Not", their only true powerhouse ballad, "Nobody Wins", and their stance on individuality, "Revolution." Once you get past the dull moments, the rest of this strong debut is so immaculate it glistens. The Veronicas are not one to miss, and "The Secret Life Of..." is as edgy, exciting, and as addictive as the Veronicas themselves.

Were you scared that I might get hurt?
The only reason I bought The Veronicas' The Secret Life of... CD is simply because I kept hearing comparisons between them and Meg & Dia (a band I enjoy a lot). I figured anyone being compared to Meg & Dia deserved at least a listen so I got this. Word of advice:THIS IS NOTHING LIKE MEG & DIA.It's not particularly bad. From track 6 on I quite enjoy listening to it. But, those first five songs are so disgustingly pre-teen that I can't even listen to them. Okay, I should probably elaborate on that a bit.The music in those first few songs is pretty decent and the vocal delivery--as with the rest of the CD--is great. The lyrics are what destroy what really has the potential to be a good song. Don't believe me? Listen to them. They're so horrid that, and I kid you not, that only 12 year olds will think they're clever. And I know that pop music doesn't necessarily have to be deep but come on, devoting an entire song to saying how you thought a guy was gay is idiotic.Never fear for those who see potential in these girls. From Mouth Shut on we're greeted with potential being realized.By the time you get to Mouth Shut you basically know The Veronicas' routine...soft verses with rock choruses. This doesn't change on the latter half of the CD but gone are all the "I know I'm hot and you don't have a chance with me" vibes given out early in the CD, lyrics are better too. Plus, a couple ballads thrown in for good measure never hurt anyone, especially when you've got a good singing voice. Leave Me Alone shows a lot of depth with one of the best choruses of the entire disc. Nobody Wins explores further The Veronicas melodic side and we have another winner. Lyrics are at their best on this song as well. Seems The Veronicas took that age old saying "save the best for last" to heart though, cause Mother Mother is by far the best song offered. Off beat verses giving way to a truly memorable chorus is a hard thing not to love.My favorite songs are Mouth Shut, Leave Me Alone, Heavily Broken, Nobody Wins, and Mother Mother. The Veronicas aren't groundbreaking, anybody who tells you differently is just full of it. But they are good, I'll give them that. If they fully drop the stuck up-ness they sport at the beginning of The Secret Life of... then I'm sure my opinion on them will change right along with them, but until then I'm not completely sure what to think about them.

Des débuts prometteurs
Un très bon album pour des débuts très prometteurs ! "The Secret Life Of..." a mené The Veronicas là où elles sont aujourd'hui et des chansons comme "4Ever", "Everything I'm Not", "Revolution", "I Could Get Used To This", Heavily Broken" ou la reprise de "Mother Mother" sont des références.

EXCELLENT
even the rubbish last track, Mother Mother, does not stop me giving this 5 stars. I just stop the cd when Nobody Wins ends. I got the second cd first and liked it so much i got this earlier one. Its even better than "Hook Me Up". The girls have excellent voices and the songs are really good.I would give every song 10 out of 10 except for the last track which is so bad it gets 0 out of 10. Superb as is Hook Me Up.They co wrote most of the songs, although not Mother Mother.
