Value with quality
Good price and quality, I use this on my Hobie Kayak for anchor attachment to the anchor trolley.

Take care when mounting may come apart.
The size worked with the frame size I was mounting it. However, when carefully working with it, if by chance the cleats come up and the spring releases it will be a problem. Also the size anchor rope I am using is 5/16β, it slips under the cleat and doesnβt hold.

A non sailing yse
Iβm a sailor & have used these cam cleats on my Catalina 22. But I used two of these cleats to hang a sail cloth over my patio. Worked like a charm, just like on my boat.

Cams ability to rotate is very restricted when unit is tightened down to mounting surface
Used for patio awning. Difficult to mount to flat surface - the metal base is beveled and fits into beveled flange on plastic mount making the bottom surface flat. HOWEVER, the srews are still angled making it difficult to mount. When the screws are tightened to hold the cleat down, the cams are held tight by the screws and cannot rotate. There are no instructions for this anywhere. You will have to come up with a way to mount without tightening the screws to hold the unit fast. Not worth the effort - had to modify extensively and mount on a wood cleat.

Easy to install
Put this on a Sunfish where the old hook was. All on the lip of the cockpit, so not very complex. In combo with the Harken carbo block, it has made the Sunfish so much more fun.

Holes misaligned and no bearings = spring
I am giving this 2 stars because the holes were misaligned in that one of the two screw holes was angled rather than straight and therefore it would not mount on a 2" on center bracket I was attaching it to, but I ended up keeping it by taking the plastic base off - so I made it work. Also, in taking it apart to mount it, it only has a spring, no ball bearings = so I would not use this to hold anything important on my sailboat, and am using it just to keep a line out of the way. Also, being all plastic and a simple spring, in my opinion, this would not hold up long under normal sailing use. If it was for a line on the boat ... I would get a cam cleat that has ball bearings! But again, I made it work for what I needed.

Low quality design
I bought a legit sail boat cam cleat for $68. This one was $19. I fully expect the legit cam cleat to last for decades. I wouldn't be surprised if this one is not functional after a few months. This one has no bearings and uses a coil spring For the tension. However the coil spring is not captive and can come out of the cam at the bottom. On the plus side, I sailed with it yesterday for 15 minutes and it's still working.

Careful during install. Once the bolt is out there is nothing holding it together.

O.K. Product
These rope cleats are extremely stiff and it is kind of hard to feed a rope through them. I think maybe the springs in the cleats are to too robust which is why the cleats are so stiff. I would not recommend buying these unless you desire a very stiff cleat.vrb
