Finally - I have one
I have hankered for one if these for ever. Some reviewers have criticised VFM but it is easy to forget that someone had to create it and make it work - it comes from Oslo, so what with shipping, import duty, VAT and the extended warranty; the costs are already stacking up. I found the wooden structure excellent, and the padding works for me. I am only 5’3” and I comfortably adapt to the seating position. I also often turn it round to sit on it when I am frequently getting up and down. Assembly - about as easy as it gets, you can’t make a mistake - takes 5 minutes. Following registration of the chair on the manufacturer’s site this is the confirmation of the warranty:Receive seven years guarantee against fabrication faults on wooden parts, and five years guarantee against fabrication faults on mechanical parts. So your only refurbishment will be the fabric - which is reasonable.

Life changing chair
I rarely write reviews, but I've had this chair for 48 hours and I feel compelled to say how amazing my experience has been and how I see this chair improving my quality of life. For 10 years I've suffered with lower back pain. I wake in the morning (having slept on my front) and my back is painful, I've gone to physio, had acupuncture, tried Pilates, yoga etc. I've always thought it's been due to lack of core strength. I have 2 kids and I've avoided picking them up because I know I'll suffer the next day.I work in an office environment and like everyone else this year had to adapt to working from home. I had a stand up desk at my office but at home had to improvise but ultimately have ended up sitting all day in a standard chair.Having reached a point of frustration about my back I decided I needed to invest in a better chair. I researched all the chair types, most of which looked like the chair I already had but with better support and adjustability. I was looking to pay £250 for a chair (I'm not going to spend £1000 on a chair like you could do!). My worry with some of the other chairs was I felt that I'd have much of the same experience to my current chair.I stumbled on the Verier Balans and was initially very sceptical. The chair looked to offer zero support, looked overly difficult to sit in, the idea of siting on your chins concerned me and I really thought I wouldn't be able to sit in it for a full day without my back getting tired, so had already planned to alternate an hour on the Balans and an hour in my standard chair throughout the day.So the chair was delivered 2 days ago and I've been using it since then. THIS CHAIR IS AMAZING!!!- It is comfortable - I barely even notice that I'm not sitting in s regular chair. The way you sit in the chair means you lean forward on your chins which pushes your pelvis forward and your shoulders naturally align perfectly with them. The chair makes it so it's uncomfortable NOT not sit with your back straight- Great movement - when you sit in the chair and it forces you to sit up straight you also realise how much movement you have. I'm on a lot of video calls (like all of us at the moment) and the ability to pivot your back whilst being supported is amazing. You will notice on the video (as you see yourself) how great your posture looks sitting in this chair- Energy levels - I'm 38 years old and at the end of a day working I would be exhausted and just need to sleep. After a full day yesterday I got to the evening and was trying to figure out why I felt so awake and full of energy. I was thinking was it a change in my diet, had I done more walking...then the penny dropped, the change was the chair.I know plenty of folks who struggle with back pain. One of my mates had a slipped disc recently that needed an operation solely from working at a desk and sitting on flights. I am going to tell everyone about this chair. If you (like I had been) are thinking this might be good for you but thinking you should get a more traditional chair as this looks too different, don't - 2 days in I feel this is an investment in my health I wish I'd made 10 years ago.My mate who had the operation on his back had the analogy that we should all consider - if you were given a car at 17 and told it's the only car you'll ever have you'd spend good money on servicing it regularly, spending on keeping it running well and avoiding any damage - we need to treat our bodies in this same way.

Not easy to assemble alone if you have back problems but helps with back pain
I initially submitted a negative review of this after having trouble with assembly while suffering from back pain. However, that aside, I must admit that since using it regularly I have found that my back pain is significantly reduced.

Ideal seating for backaches.
It took me two weeks to get used to it. It’s not uncomfortable. Better posture and do not experience backaches as I used to. It is working for me. Hope it carries on. Love it.

Excellent alternative to a traditional chair.
I was initially sceptical at the price point for this chair however I have been won around very quickly.I struggle to sit on “traditional” chairs, often sitting on my foot or fidgeting and putting my feet up onto the chair. My Varier balans has been an absolute game changer, and I’m finding my posture is much improved compared to the desk hunch I used to experience. Similarly I find the chair remains comfortable to sit on all day as I can switch between resting my shins on the pads or stretching my legs out, the slight rocker on the bottom is another great feature for a chronic fidgeter. The assembly was incredibly easy with the Allen key provided, it has a high quality feel being very sturdy yet still light. It’s easily tucked under a standard desk and looks great!

Worth the money
I have bought cheap and bought way more than twice before. Not this time - while on the face of it this chair is quite pricey, the quality of design and construction makes it really good value for money.Weirdly it fits all members of the family and is mega comfortable.Highly recommended

Expensive but soooooo worth it!!
Previously purchased a cheaper kneeling chair which was a useful introduction to the form factor, however, this is clearly the daddy of all kneeling chairs.Compact, unbelievably comfortable and easily stowed away. Takes up very little space and great for a home office.Fantastic for posture and concentration.Well worth the extra money

Worth the investment.
I have dyspraxia and have always found myself kneeling or sitting cross legged in chairs - I’ve since learned that this is because my body is seeking out the sense of pressure in my limbs. However, I found that more often than not, I would go to get up and have numb legs. After one particularly bad episode where my foot was so numb I tripped over it, I knew it was time to sort out a better way to sit - I was worried about the effect of kneeling for hours at a time on my circulation too, now that I’m 40.Happily, this chair helps me sit properly! My body feels supported, I can move about, and it even fulfills the craving for gentle pressure, because of the way my legs press in to the pads. It was an investment, but it’s made such a difference to my office, and I’m having much less neck ache as a result of sitting straighter, too. As an aside, I was worried I would miss not having a backrest, but that’s not been an issue at all.
