Amanda Harper, Former Cop and now Paranormal
Investigator. Book 3 starts off with her last shifts as a cop and working with another cop, named Patience. (Note: she does not live up to her name.). Patience is outspoken and has no problem speaking her mind to Amanda or the crooks she is arresting. It appears that Amanda will do well in her new job at Blue Moon Investigations.

Not as fascinating to me as the first two books.
The protagonist of this book, Amanda, was introduced in Book 1, but took a much smaller role than I expected in Book 2. This, Book 3, is the author’s attempt to fill out her character and bring her into the story. Like the previous two books, it’s told in the first person. While I thoroughly enjoy seeing inside Tempest’s head, what Amanda was thinking was of much less interest to me. I think the fundamental problem is that the author is a man, or perhaps it’s that I’m a woman. He’s just not as familiar with what goes through a woman’s mind and how that whole process works. However, I guess that’s not surprising. I think it’s kind of a mystery to most men.The story is a bit chopped up between what her thoughts are about her personal life vs. her professional one. They’re pretty separated, and I don’t think women do that as much as Amanda does. There’s an old joke I heard: If you ask a woman if everything is okay, she’ll launch into what’s going on at work, the problems she’s having with a friend, the cute shoes she has her eyes on, her weight, and the great guy she started dating. If you ask a man if everything is okay, he’ll tell you it is: he’s not hungry, not sleepy, and doesn’t have to go to the bathroom. Men are from Mars…Amanda’s missing a lot of stuff that’s usually going on in a woman’s head. She spends a lot of time wondering how many dates with a man are appropriate before hopping between the sheets. (Hint: Since all relationships and people are different, there’s no pat answer.) 😉Nevertheless, the book is entertaining and worth a read, if only to move onto Book 4 with the whole story in hand.

Enjoyable cozy mysteries!
I’ve loved all the books I have read so far by Steve Higgs! At present I’m working through the Blue MoonParanormal Detective series(about to start book 4 in the series) but just finished the series about Albert(The retired detective superintendent and his German Shepherd Rex Harrison) ! Found them delightful!Just some mystery and some chuckles along the way! Do give this author a read as I’m sure you will love his books, too!

Derelict Shopping Mall Meets Its Match in a Stinky Ghost
Those who've read the Tempest Michaels books by Steve Higgs have already met the heroine of his new series named Amanda Harper. She's given notice at the police station to resign from her position as a police officer after deciding she wants to work with Tempest. This book celebrates Amanda's first case as a paranormal investigator. I dearly love the Tempest Michaels character but found that it will take me a bit to get used to Amanda being the shining star of this series. It's been a while since I was in my twenties, and I don't recall being as fixated on my nether region as Amanda is. But hey, I wasn't beautiful, and I also didn't date a handsome millionaire. Fortunately, Tempest drops into the story periodically. Amanda is also attracted to him. The book is a fast, light-hearted read with a capable storyline. I've been in derelict malls here in America and can agree that they are spooky in a sad way. Higgs' creation of a ghost in a deserted mall is a good idea. I've never come across a villain before whose worse crime may be his flatulence. It will be interesting to see whether the character of Amanda shows growth in the rest of the series. Gotta admit I missed Bull and Dozer!

Good read
I enjoyed reading this book. Interesting characters and story. The cases are interesting with a splash of their personal lives to add a little extra drama. Plan to go in to the next one to see what happens next, the hints were very enticing.

A bit easy to figure out.
I need to try a few more books by these authors to give a good assessment of their writing because this one made it quite easy to discern the culprits by the clues given.

Famous Dad Helps... Relative?
I thoroughly enjoyed the first books in the series, so it was with great excitement I started this third one. To my disappointment the writing was amateur, utterly fascinated with the sexuality of the protagonist, and just a tad boring. I'm all for experienced writers helping beginners to get into their groove, but not at the expense of a good series, and especially when the series has only just begun. It felt like Gemma Higgs has spent a lot of time reading the Janet Evanovich books and was copying the format. It was contrived, awkward, and stiff. Like a high school play. Given time, I'm sure she can develop her skills. However this was disappointing for me, as I was expecting something in the same quality of the first two books in the Tempest series.

The ghost in the elevator
This story focuses on the ex police officer Amanda Harper’s first case for the Paranormal Detectives. A shopping centre has a problem with bag stealing ghosts. Add in some sexual tension with a new boyfriend and you have a funny tale.

Worth a read, although the title seems to be having an identity crisis
Amanda has joined Tempest at his paranormal investigation agency, Blue Moon, while working her last shifts as a police officer. Tasked with investigating a ghost in lifts at a shopping centre, she solves the case relatively quickly. This was a no brainer really as I had come to the same conclusion of what was happening very early in the book.Suitable for easy light reading, I didn't find it as "hilarious" as the blurb would lead you to believe, although there were some funny moments. Some of the editing leaves a bit to be desired but overall not a bad book, if you can overlook that and the changes of title.Originally published as Can You Kick a Ghost in the Nuts? (The Harper Files #1; Blue Moon Investigations #2.5), then labelled "Spooky Shopping Mall: The Harper Files: Case 1", now renamed as "Amanda Harper Paranormal Detective: Blue Moon Investigations Book 3"

No you cant
Smart female lead with a libidinous girlfriend. Not terribly original but still a bit of fun.The story is well told, the plot lacks a bit of logical consistency but its a mystery light so it can be forgiven.I dont normally buy short books, I now remeber why.

Good story
This is a great mystery, with a very enjoyable storyline and a satisfying outcome. The story is well written and the characters are interesting. I loved the title, which is what drew me to the book initially, and the story didn’t disappoint!
