I feel like it barely blocks the sun, and rain does get in and on my patio furniture. Definitely not water proof, but my furniture isn’t soaked, either. I stood underneath and saw that rain did fall through the fabric, so it’s not like it was from the wind. Otherwise, it’s sturdy and nice looking, so I’m okay with it only partially doing its job.
