Pushing Patrick: A Friends to Lovers Romance (The Gilroy Clan Book 1)

So I was certainly NOT expecting this book to go the way that it did but good lord almighty!!! The absolutely smoking hot chemistry between Patrick and Cari probably could have set my phone on fire. I was expecting your typical friends to lovers story, which would have been perfectly fine, but what I got was something else altogether! Patrick and Cari are friends for years except that he is in love with her and she doesn't know it. She apparently has major self esteem issues and can't see what is right in front of her. The hurt they cause each other made me want to cry, and I got so angry that I almost stopped reading but I HAD to find out what happens. I also did not expect that ending, lol. Megyn Ward did a fantastic job pulling me into their story with so many emotions, so much steam, and the wonderful side characters that I can't wait to read book 2!!I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book was better than my expectations based on reviews. I will go on to read the second book, but I don’t feel like I need to purchase it right this second. It’s been added to my TBR list. I really loved these characters, but at times felt frustrated with both of them. Their chemistry was off the charts, but their ability to actually speak to each other was nonexistent. Personally, I felt like this book could’ve been written in one installment. I do look forward to the second book though.

Patrick and Cari have known each other for years, yet were only just friends. Cari continuously picks the wrong kind of guy who does nothing but treat her wrong or cheats on her. This last breakup was harsh for Cari when she caught her boyfriend with someone else. So now homeless, Patrick volunteers his place for Cari to live. Cari and her friend Tess, decide to see if they can "push" Patrick into being unfriendly and actually get it on with Cari. When he finds out their plot, he is angry but then he starts getting his revenge. Loved this story but did not expect a cliffhanger. Anxiously wanting to read the rest in this series. I really hope in the next book, Cari and Patrick can work through their issues. There is also a bit of a mystery in this story as well as legal issues for Patrick. Read this series and enjoy! The writing will draw you in after only a few pages of the first book and have you wanting to finish in one sitting. Then going on to the next as soon as you can get your hands on it.There is the perfect amount of angst and romance to keep you hooked. I loved how their relationship unfolded so we could see these amazing characters grow in ways you never expected.I would suggest picking up a copy of each book asap, you will NOT be disappointed.I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I love the characters and the super angsty storyline. Characters are typical "met at the wrong time". This book is extremely melt your kindle steamy, its funny and it's sweet. At times, a little ragey. This book ends in a huge cliffhanger, but both portions of this duet within the series is out. The emotions in this book or high, and communication is going to be key in book two. Patrick is my absolute favorite. Love everything about him, he is so well written. Cari is well written also, has tragic taste in men, self sabotaging. Dark is gonna need a lot of help to get out of the trouble that her ex is getting her into. All of the trouble with Patrick, she brought on herself. She really hurt him. The bet is one thing, the name calling and derogatory remarks she said behind his back, less so. Anyway, I'm highly invested. Love the side cast of characters. Told from dual POV. which I loved. Bares repeating, part of duet with cliffhanger ending.

I took a chance on this book and I was not disappointed. I like friends to lovers romance but the tangled webs in this story just keeps your eyes roaming down the page. Patrick and Cari' s first meeting wasn't ideal but the chemistry was there. Fighting it for years, the damn finally breaks and they are finally giving in but the in resolved tension sometimes turns to anger and they can't seem to move forward. No communication. Then James, the cheating ex is but hurt he can't get her back so he decides idea to play dirty. At this point in the book you feel the tide turn and there seems to be shadows in the back ground of this. I had a feeling the past was going to rear its ugly head but not like it did. I am on to book 2. My blood pressure is too high right now. I need a good revenge plot in this next one.

Exciting, witty, funny and very entertaining. Push Patrick too far and wow his explosion is HOT! After the first chapter I really like the continuation of this story and especially the characters this author created and developed exquisitely. Like Cari said about Patrick, he’s not hot he’s beautiful. And he is. Such a rare hunk of a gentleman and he can get dirty too! So HOT! Cari was frustrating but she really has a beautiful soul along with the sexiness. These two are unsure about the other’s feelings and rely on actions and their insecurities rather than talking to each other. But they are a great couple and belong together. I loved the Gilroy clan and look forward to more of their stories and Patrick and Cari’s finale. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.

I really HATE to give low reviews to writers because I’ve always wanted to be one but have never had the courage. So for writing the book? Five stars to you author. For the story? High school conflict meets underdeveloped woman who can’t figure out her emotions:two stars. I’m not saying we all have it together. But the entire plot is ‘well, what should I do?’ And her friends trying to put them together. There were some cute characteristics to each of the characters but that’s it. Easy read, not as heart pounding as I had hoped.

This is the first book in the series and was a really good enjoyable fun read but be warned it does end on a cliffhanger I just loved the chemistry between Patrick and Cari they are smoking hot together this is a super start to the series

Loved the book, I felt for both the main characters and I’ve laughed a lot too! Family is everything even when you mess with it love laughter tears and fighting. I’ve ready the rest of the series and waiting for the latest one to be released and I can’t wait!!!!

loving the book so many things going on you won't get bored. It's 1am and I have to start the next one now :)

First read from this author and whoa she can write the steamiest scenes. This is a friend to roomate to lover trope. Patrick is mister nice guy, he's been in love with his best friend Cari for 3 years. When she needs a place to stay he offers her a place. Cari accepts hoping to get Patrick to make his move. Things are complicated, both of them have issues and think they aren't good enough for the other. But the chemistry is off the charts and it leaves you breathless! It ends in a cliffhanger and is book one of a series so many characters are introduced! It is goooood!
