a powerful and illuminating collection of short stories with some unmissable gems. i was engrossed and enjoyed reading every single story. the intro by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is insightful too.

Great assortment of short stories, familiar and new writers.

I have a strong love for short stories and subscribed to The New Yorker for them and got the O'Henry annual books, as well as the Best American Short Stories each year. I usually preferred the O'Henry selections, but at this point, I hated this years collection so much I don't know if I'll ever have the interest to read them again. One of the stories actually made me feel physically ill! These selections are most likely picked for the interest of other writers and not readers-which are two very different categories.

Always the perfect travel/vacation companion.

So nice to read really good writing. These stories are often powerful, engaging and entertaining.
