I created this piece while visiting the Tahitian island of Moorea which is part of the Tahitian Islands, AKA as French Polynesia. If you've never been there I'd suggest you place it on your "bucket list". For me, it is the most beautiful luscious scenery I've seen and/or visited. The oil paint and canvas art-board I used was purchased in Papeete, on the island of Tahiti (the capitol) because it was the only source I could find at that time. While sitting in the water, in a small dingy, in Cook's Bay, I was taken by the beauty of this a lone sailboat which was anchored and absent of it's crew. The water was warm and still accept for a slight breeze that caused my boat to move about slowly. Periodically, I managed to re-position my vision and the craft in order to capture the scene. As you can see, the surroundings are dense and hilly and very, very green. I'm entirely satisfied with the results and believe others like it as much as I. In addition, what a great place to create in. One can understand why the famous artist, Paul Gauguin, spent many years painting the locals and the scenery.
