Fantronics 5M Rigid Cable Android Borescope Endoscope Camera, Waterproof OTG Micro USB Inspection Camera Snake Camera with 6 Adjustable LEDs

I have not been able to get this camera to work on my android device or my Windows laptop. Strangely enough, it will work briefly on my Mac even though it isn't supposed to. However, I need it to work on my android or laptop because it needs to be portable.You can tell this is mass produced in China and then resold by someone in the US. Usually when that happens there is at least a modicum of support from the American seller. Not in this case. The instructions are all but nonexistent, the software that the QR codes sends you to sets off all of my anti-virus and security alerts, and there wasn't any software send with the device (despite the limited instructions saying there is).Im not an IT professional, but I'm generally a tech savvy person. I design and setup all of my own home audio, networking, and entertainment systems, so I'm not exactly green when it comes to this stuff. I still can't sort it all out.I would look elsewhere based on my experience.*****UPDATE*****9/29/16 - After posting this review, the seller contacted me and thought the camera may have been defective. They sent me a new camera, and it does work. I believe the initial problem was with the connect to the android device through the micro USB. They sent the replacement quickly.This is a decent camera and device that could use some improvement. I would like it if the focal distance was a little further and the field of view a little wider than it is now. The image quality up close is good, but for most uses around the house it is better to have a larger field of view and a focal length that is further. It would also help if the camera tip were able to be manipulated. That would assist the camera getting into the places you need. I've been trying to feed it into a wall to look for a leak, but it is very difficult to get it more than a foot or so into the wall because I can't manipulate the tip in order to direct it. Obviously I would also like to see a better quality assurance process as it took two or three weeks to get my working model.

Absolute piece of junk. Doesn't work on any of three phones I tried it on, nor on a PC. MicroUSB adapter is so tight I was afraid I would break the connector on the phones. Avoid.Edit: After spending a couple of days messing with this, I've gotten it to work somewhat. It seems to work out of the box with Linux, using the full-size USB connector. Still can't get it to work with Linux. MicroUSB connector still doesn't function on any phone I've tried it on. However, if I use a USB OTG converter to attach the full-size connector, it seems to work. Although this is not ideal, it is at least a usable workaround. So, I'm upgrading my original 1-star review to 3-stars.

It is as described, but that was my problem with this product, the cable is way too long. You only need about twenty-five percent of the cable that this thing comes with to do just about everything you will ever need it for.I purchased it to use when working on vehicles to see down inside the motor and such. For the price you actually get a good buy, the camera is okay.

couldnt get it to work with the camerafi app, my phone apparently doesnt even know its plugged in. it did nothing at all. and i couldnt downlaod the kkmoom.com/an99.apk file to my phone, it just didnt work. and not sure if i would really trust these things on my phone even if they did. so i plugged it into my computer and got it to work on vlc media player using the open capture device or whatever it was and selecting this usb camera. this is all i tried because the picture quality was not good or at least not what i expected from it. it had a really severe delay and it was like it was really zoomed in. if i got really close to a object, like a reciept, it would show up and be pretty clear, but i had to be really close to it. and the light is not very bright. the camera wont even show i picture unless it really bright where its focused. if its not right in front of it the picture is very fuzzy. so this was a waist to me because it did not do what i wanted it to do. i should have just bought one of the probe cameras that is actually made for that. i wanted to use it for vehicle maintenance and thought this would be a cheap and convenient way instead of buying one of the other cameras designed for that type of thing.

Unfortunately this camera would not work with my Galaxy S7 Edge. This is not the sellers fault. The Amazon return process does not offer an option to exchange so I took a refund. The camera itself seemed well made. I suspect it was an OTG driver issue. I'd like to see the sellers that offer these cameras do some testing to verify what phones this type of camera works with.

Received my new endoscope a few day ago, the only upside to the new scope was it came with all the extras this time. The connection to my phone was so tight I about gave up. The connection must be oversized or there supplier isnt making them right. But like the fist one it didnt work, my phone didnt regester that the camera was there (i did have the app). Not going for a third try as i dont want to break my phone connection. The person who kept emailing me seamed very nice.*Edit* Fantronics has been persistent in offering they send me a new scope so i will update tths review once i have tried it out.*original* 2 stars.Open the box. Pulled the tightly packed cable out of the box and see its missing parts. Not a good start but i didnt buy it for the hook and mirror so let try out the camera. Wire is a decently stiff the connection fit tight my hopes are up. After downloading the app, my phone still dosnt find the camera. I go to disconnect it and it falls apart into three pieces. Nothing left to do but return it.
