NOT professional- but still impressive
The first thing I noticed were stickers on the end of the handle stating 'student brushes.' I figured- eh, let's checks them out. I've been looking for affordable 'thirsty' brushes for watercolors and a pro artist friend of mine suggested trying Chinese brushes.OMG. After I washed out the sizing and finger squeezed them, the med size slurped up almost my entire well of paint. I then started experimenting- not only do they last forever on a single load, but the variety of sweeps blew me away- With a single brush- single load- I could get a dry brush effect, solid lining, shades/gradients, and glazes. As I understand= the Chinese pure hair brushed will last forever provided they are rinsed well, squeezed dry, shaped and either hung by the ends or stand up on end with bristles up.And to think- this whole set cost less than a single decent sable. It makes me wonder what an actual professional set can do!

Good brush set for beginbers
Came with 8brushes of varying sizes. Exactly what I was looking n.v g for. The mat is a handy brush holder. Just not for professional Al's, more a beginner's set.

Great brushes
These brushes are beautiful and lightweight. So far I've only used 1 of them, but I've been very pleased and impressed with how well they hold and distribute the watercolor paint. There were some bristles that fell out at inopportune moments while I was working, but only about 5 bristles came out and now it seems to be done. I'm sure the other brushes will have the same issue, but it's a small inconvenience to deal with it doesn't change my opinion on the brushes.

Nice. I usually do western style watercolors but purchased this on a whim. They hold a good amount of water/paint and come to a precise point. I feel like I have good control when using these brushes. The bigger ones remind me of squirrel quill bushes and small ones remind me of long rounds. They are stiff when you get them, but soak in water for a minute, work the bristles around and let it soak for another minute, repeat if needed and then rinse and you'll be ready to go, not a big problem. Seems like a solid value, would buy again.

this is a good set of basic brushes
this is a good set of basic brushes. It says professional, but really its a nice student set. the expensive brushes really are in a different class.I like the good variety of sizes, and hair types.the brush keeper is nice, works well and is nicely made.they are well made and nice to hold and to use.they would be good for travel use, if you don't want to risk losing your very expensive brushes, and a nice gift for someone who would like to try brush painting.also a nice gift for anyone who likes painting with watercolor, or calligraphy.they arrived well packed, and fairly fast.I would get these again.

Excellent brushes!
I bought these to get started with Chinese/Japanese brush painting but I think I’ll just continue to use them. Great for watercolor too. Hard to believe some of the negative reviews. I particularly enjoyed the positive comments from the seasoned artists. Those comments are what made me go ahead with purchasing these brushes.
