They work!
I caught a trout the first time I tried one of these flies on my new Tenkara rod. Might be beginners luck because I am just learning to use a Tenkara rod, and I'm a total amateur. The barbless hook does come off easily, so some fish may escape before being landed. I got a 9" trout and it did get off the hook after I had pulled it up onto the bank, so all I had to do was toss him back in the water, didn't even have to remove the hook.
