A clean and sweet romance that devotes too much time to secondary characters. Three yawning stars.
I'm not sure why Traded is in the sports book category. Aside from Brody being a star quarterback, it's really not about sports at all. It's a very clean and sweet small-town romance, with no sex scenes or foul language whatsoever. While I appreciated the absence of the f-word that riddles so many books these days, I do like a bit of "steam" in my romances. But that's a personal preference and no criticism of this author's work. I also appreciated the professional proofreading. What I didn't like was the amount of time devoted to the secondary characters: Brody's friends (the Dogs), his mother, and his housekeeper. I understand the author was introducing the Dogs, who will have lead roles in future books in this series, but why spend so much time on the problems and love lives of his mother and housekeeper? I got bored and skimmed through much of it, just wanting to get back to Kara and Brody's story. Also, the ending was disappointingly abrupt. Kara finally tells Brody her secret (she's in witness protection), they get engaged, Brody and the Dogs vow to keep her safely hidden in Cliffside Bay, and that's it. Really? I was expecting a bit of excitement and danger, like someone from the Colombian drug cartel shows up or something. But nothing happened. We didn't even get a Happily Ever After wedding, but maybe that will occur in the next book in the series. I won't find out, because this one--while sweet--was enough for me.

Language was a barrier
Didn’t care for the profanity, even if it was mild, it was unnecessary. The potential hit lost in worldly themes.? I won’t be continuing in this series.

What did I just read?
....No, seriously. This story had no excitement, at all. There was no suspense, no connection to the characters, nothing to keep me excited to continue on. I finished this book after having it for several weeks, because insomnia. But if you make it to the end, here's a warning, it is abrupt and unfinished. I'm so disappointed that I refuse to buy the next book in this series. This book was such a let down, I can't imagine anything else by this author would be any better.

Not a Christian book. Language & casual sex though not explicit,
Has language, lots of casual sex and drinking/drunkenness. Wish Amazon would get better at classifying their books. Just because a search will bring up ‘God’ in a book does not mean it is a Christian book.

second chances
Traded is a sweet story of second chances and loving at great risk to yourself. This is a sweet book, not a lot of heat, but it doesn't need it. I wouldn't be embarrassed to lend this one to my mom. ;)As with most of Tess Thompson's stories, there are multiple story lines, and a whole host of well developed characters. The secondary love story is sweet and unexpected, yet doesn't feel forced. I like that the characters aren't perfect, they have flaws, and plenty of them.I did have to mentally recast Brody, as he reminds me of a certain quarterback I despise. Brody and Kara manage to overcome the odds, and I suspect that their story will continue to develop in the series. I'm looking forward to finding out how his fame and her secret can possibly co-exist.

Sweet...bland....boring
Sweet doesn't have to mean boring. This book was sweet and boring. Bland, sweet and boring. Was upposed to be about witness protection but she violated the do not tell rule. Then no involvement with U.S. Marshals, what, really ? I guess what I am saying there were lots of promises without delivery. Many setups for more books. The wham the book was over...no epilogue for an opportunity to see if things worked out. Guess you are supposed to buy the next book. Not me. Far too many other books Authors available, I pass. I voluntarily reviewed this book after receiving an ARC in exchange for a honest review.

Abrupt unfinished ending
Just finished this book. I enjoyed the story line and was planning to continue to read the series until. The abrupt terrible ending. The ending abruptly stopped when there was potentially a lot of mystery and story left. I then looked at book two of series and it was taking off with a different couples story. If this is an example of this series and the abrupt unfinished endings - “I’ll pass”

Fantastic debut for the Cliffside Bay Series
Kara’s life has not turned out the way she always thought it would. After learning about the horrible corruption her father is wrapped up in, she decides to do what’s right and testifies against him. In exchange, she is given a new identity and is placed in a whole new life within the Witness Protection Program. Gone is her beautiful condo, her job as a nurse practitioner in a bustling hospital, and everyone who ever knew who she was.A stranger in the very small, very close-knit California coastal town of Cliffside Bay, Kara feels lost and alone. After a fortuitous visit to the local bar, she finds herself directed to a job placement office. As luck would have it, Brody, one of Cliffside Bay’s most famous residents, needs a live-in nurse to help him take care of two of his ailing family members. Kara is over-qualified for the job, but knows she is in no position to turn it down.Soon after Kara settles into Brody’s spacious home, she is disheartened to realize that she is falling for him. She knows there are many reasons why this is a bad idea. Brody is guarded; still healing from a broken heart, and the public life he leads is problematic for a girl whose very life depends on staying out of the spotlight. Does Brody have feelings for Kara? And if he does, are the obstacles standing between them too difficult to overcome? As always, Ms. Thompson has skillfully crafted her novel, introducing her readers to not just one storyline, but three―which every fan happily knows means that there is more coming from Cliffside Bay. Traded is sad and sweet, and every bit as engaging as Ms. Thompson’s previous novels. And, like those previous novels, Traded does not disappoint.

A Good Read
After seeing her father shoot someone Kara goes to the police and gives evidence against him. She is sent to start a new life in a small town and given strict instructions to tell no one her story. Brody is a famous footballer and they soon meet and the attraction is immediate but will Kara be able to keep her distance? A nice love story but the ending was a bit abrupt. I would like to know if they lived safely ever after. There are a lot of books in this series so maybe this is addressed later but I hate being forced to purchase more books to find out the end of one of them.

Really enjoyable read
This was my first read from this author and will not be my last. I couldn't put it down as I was so into the story and the characters. I love the speed at which the book is written, slow enough to follow and connect with whats happening but doesnt drag on and on either.I rated 4* instead of 5 as I would have liked a bit more of their after story how they adapted to their situation of having a normal out of the spotlight life and what became of Flora and Janet's romances (although Im hoping as I read the other books in this series I find out more).

Good story
Kara has to leave everything she knows after testifying against her father and drug lords. She ends up in witness protection and is moved to a small town to start again. She takes a job caring for a lady who has broken her leg and her housekeeper whose ill. Brody is a famous football player and when he meets her he is attracted to her. They become good friends but he thinks she has secrets. She tries not to get close, she can't afford for her photo to be taken.

Traded
An amazing story. I have heard of witness protection, but never realised how difficult it must be to live like that. I look forward to continuing reading about the lives of the friends in Cliffside bay

Different
A very readable book, a love story with a twist. The subject is one I had never given thought to before and made me think about how I would react under the same circumstances
