At first I didn't love them, now I can't believe how well they work
I own several different pairs of Howard leigh hearing protection devices. These are now going to be main "go to" pair and I'll use my others as a spair pair. I love them that much! But before I tell you why I love them so much, let me first start by telling you that when I put these in my ears the first time, I didn't love em. In fact I, I wasn't impressed at all. They only blocked out about 75% of the sound, and the amplification of the sounds and voices that I did want to hear, was so low that it almost felt non-existent. I even tried turning the volume all the way up, and I could barely hear people talking. I started to closely examine the earbuds, and I realized that there were three different sizes. The size that came installed on the buds, is the largest of the three sizes. I decided to try the smallest of the three sizes since I have very tiny ear holes. Wow, the difference was so noticeable right away. After using the smaller size, I noticed a couple things about these buds.• The material of the bud reminds me of the buds audiologist use when doing hearing test. They are super soft and spongy.• The buds must be pushed well into the ear canal in order to create a somewhat tight seal to not allow any sound to come in.• The ear hook should be bended to the shape of the ear to take tension off of the buds and prevent them from slowly coming out.• If it becomes difficult understand voices or hear the clarity of things, there's a good chance I don't have a good seal in the ear and that some unwanted sound is finding its way in.I wear hearing protection a lot , and I wear it in all types of environments. Sometimes I'm in a tight space where my head barely fits, and sometimes I have to put my face super close to a something I'm using or working on. I'm happy to say that these don't interfere with either of those things.Another things I've noticed with trying to use hearing protection where I live is that most hearing protection often makes me really hot. It's already usually 95-100° degrees where I live in Texas so what usually ends up happening is I get so hot that I take my hearing protection out to cool off for a bit and let the sweat around my ears dry and then forget to put it back in when I'm around loud noises again. I can comfortably wear these without worrying about them making me super hot and risking not having protection in.They come in a nice little soft case that fits well in a back pocket or cargo shorts. Now let me tell you about the first time I tested these out when I was inside of my house and I was hitting metal against metal which made loud sharp noises that were powerful enough that my family came out of their rooms to figure out what was going on because it was so loud. I just looked over at them like, "Wait, you can hear that?" I could hear the sound with the in, but it wasn't a painful sharp sound. Next, I listened to the sound once without the hearing protection in, and I realized how loud it was and why my family was coming out of their rooms. The last thing I want to make sure that I mention about these is the superb clarity of the speakers inside the buds. I can only imagine that the technology involved in making these buds is pretty advanced because I can clearly hear every word that someone says while wearing these. I fully recommend these to anyone needing hearing protection, especially those who want to be able to communicate with others or be more aware of the environment and sounds around them.

Worked well when functionall, but do not last.
I purchased this product just over one month ago. And was initially impressed. They fit well, are comforable, and have appropriate battery life. Since purchase, I have taken it out to the range on five occasions. Today, I was packing my bag to head to the range and put these in and turned them on to ensure that they were charged and ready to go. To my surprise, the right earbud lit up with loud static that only terminated when I powered off the headphones. I have reached out to Honeywell support and will update this review if I hear back. These are entirely useless in this condition except as normal earplugs in the powered off state. I would expect more than a month's light duty use for the price I paid.

Light, Comfortable, EFFECTIVE! Fits in my pocket!!!!
The problem with carrying ears is carrying ears. For me, it is a pain to lug them around. This is especially true during long firearms training evolutions. In the hot humid summers ears are intrusive to the training environment, but hearing protection for sustained exposure to gunfire is an absolute necessity.Electronic ears are really effective at providing hearing protection while being able to provide and environment in which training direction can be delivered quickly and effectively. The problem is, during kinetic training evolutions, and sweat dripping from inside and outside your "Ears" covered ears those "Ears" will generally slide off on either one or both sides. This all too common phenomenon creates a real problem for hearing safety as well as training safety.Enter the Howards Leight (by Honeywell) Impact Sport in ear passive 'hear-through' hearing protection! I love these because they are light, effective at both protection of my hearing, but also enabling me to give commands and direction without screaming so also equipped trainees can hear me, and I can hear them. At the end of the day my throat isn't sore from yelling and I don't have a headache from the assault of constant gunfire at close range. These are supremely adjustable and comfortable, rechargeable and very easily the best option for me for long term wear in no matter what kind of weather and environment your training or operating takes you.The key is, you wear them all the time because they are never intrusive, uncomfortable, or ineffective. That is true hearing protection.... The kind you wear, all the time.

Stopped working
Worked fine at first but despite always handling them carefully, especially the wire, the left ear stopped working within one month of purchase and within one year the battery would not hold any charge and they will go into the garbage. Not worth the money.
