Decent record player!
Personally, I love music, however, I am not musically talented like my older brother, he can play any instrument you lay in his hands! I purchased this for him. He has a huge record collection, he lost count at 300 he says. He had a very old turntable (record player), that put out a scratchy sound along with the music! It certainly did not have the features this record player has either. This turntable can play any size record, something my brother was quite pleased about, as he has other size records that couldn't be played on his old turntable, so he's very happy he can listen to them now. The thing that got my brother all excited when I gifted this to him, is the fact that you can use this turntable to transfer your records to mp3 files, to either transfer to a different format or to send/download the files to your phone! Super cool! I tried to find the country of origin ( where this is manufactered), but couldn't. I do believe its made in the USA or Europe, as the instructions are written in english, spanish, and portugese.I told my brother I was going to review this because I purchased it on Amazon, and what are his thoughts........he asked me how much I paid for it, I told him $40 , and he says it's completely worth it. He said this turntable is obviously not top shelf quality, or the best equipment one can buy, but it is decent, works great and is very reasonably priced considering it's functionality. The quality is mid-shelf, the price is great, the sound quality is decent, the speakers are built-in, so no need to buy more equipment, it plays any size record, and you can use this turntable to transfer your records to mp3 files, this is a good buy!

You get more than what you pay for, though not perfect
I'm giving this a five-star review chiefly because it's a cheap product. At this price point, I am very happy with it, although I'm sure there are better products at higher price points. The turntable is small, 12" records sticks off the edges (though I knew that when I bought it, so I can't complain too much there). The speakers included are nice for what they are, but you'd be better off getting external speakers for serious listening (or using headphones, of course). The main reason you might want to shoot for a more expensive model is that this one is frustrating to get it to sound right. Even after messing around with the pitch on an album I'm extremely familiar with, it seemed just a little bit off. Nothing I would notice on an album I'm less familiar with, but definitely something I noticed on that one. I had to set the pitch slider in a weird place, about three-quarters of the way to the right, and I'm fairly happy with the results, but it irks me to think I may not be hearing the intended sound perfectly.Still, for $40 this was a good buy, I can't imagine getting something better without shelling out some extra cash, so weigh your budget on what you're getting and decide if it's worth it. Everything seems well built, and most importantly for me, the vinyl to digital recording works great and isn't terribly difficult (though I was familiar with Audacity going into this, so those who haven't used the program may be overwhelmed by the options and the instructions are old and not perfectly up to date). I mainly bought this to digitize a vinyl single that was never released on any other format, and it does the job. With my budget being what it is, I can happily stand by this purchase, but if I was going to use this more heavily to digitize a larger collection or just to listen to, or if I had more money to throw at this project, I might've gone for a higher end model.

Flawed, but not awful. Plays too fast, but tricks can fix that.
Not bad at first, not fantastic, either. I've never owned a player before and really wanted one to start a vinyl collection. Let me tell you, I searched far and wide trying to find just the right one, and I thought this was it. The price was good, I read nearly all the reviews, and it seemed right. There were way more good reviews than bad ones, and I took the chance. It worked well at first, the sound was nice, but it always sounded just a tad bit too fast. I noticed this the very first time I used it (sometimes it sounded normal, but it really depends on the day or how level the surface it's on). When I first got it, it wasn't incredibly fast to the point that it was a major problem, but it'll make your OCD wild if that's what sets you off. Also, once the needle gets close to the middle of the record, it gets really scratchy and the surface noise increases a bit. I tested this and it does it with every record (not that bad of a problem, though). It comes with the 45 adaptor, and an extra stylus /w needle, and a dust cover. Sometimes, though, it'll play wayy too slow if you tamper with it (barely tamper with it, I mean). It scares me and makes me think that it's broken, but once you turn the speed up a bit for a few seconds, it'll go back to normal. I waited about a month to post a review, just to make sure of everything. When I first posted this review last week, I said "if you're looking for a player that'll suffice for now, I say do it for the price. If you're looking for high quality, however, I say save up for something nicer if you really desire it." But now I say don't waste your money unless you are truly desperate, because I've had this player for a month now, and now it suddenly plays WAYY too fast, even on correct speed. It sounds awful. I only bought this because I couldn't wait anymore, and all in all, I'm not sure if it was worth it anymore. I'm watching these videos of good players playing the music correctly, and wondering "how the hell is my player the same as theirs?" Don't take the chance with this product unless you think you'll get lucky with one of the good players I'm seeing in the reviews.

This little turntable works great!
I had some 50-year-old records that had been in our garage for years, and I wanted to transfer the tracks to CD's. Since the records were so old, and I didn't even know if they would play, I really didn't want to spend a lot of money. This little unit is the perfect solution. It plays great, the sound is just as I remembered it on the records, and it is very user-friendly. I just plugged in the USB line, and the tracks were easily transferred to my computer. The only downside is that the Audacity CD included is only for Windows XP and 2000, so I had to either install my own Audacity from the site, or use another program. I already have RealPlayer installed on my computer, and this is totally compatable with my RealPlayer program, so I'm using it.Great value for very little money!

All right for $40, but feels cheap, limited sound quality
What can one expect for $40. It plays records, and the sound from the external speakers is all right. I bought it to play old records from the 1970s, and it plays my old, worn out records well. The sound is in stereo, and headphones bypassing the external speakers demonstrates that the sound quality is pretty good. Some of the limitations are that the knobs, case, and tone arm are made out of low quality plastic. Do not buy the player for the software: the software is merely freeware, Audacity. I have used Audacity off-and-on over the past decade. If you merely hit "record" at the start of the record and "stop" at the end of the record, you can easily export the sound file to a variety of format, such as .mp3 or .wav. But I could never get the editing functions of Audacity to work consistently, sometimes they work, and sometimes they don't. Again, special software unique to the player is not included. But when you install the Audacity software, either from the included CD or the Audacity website, and then plug in the player with the supplied standard USB cable, the Audacity program detects the player. I did this on a Mac running OS 10.13. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT AUDACITY DOES NOT WORK ON THE CURRENT MAC OS, SYSTEM 10.15. So I guess if you have a new Mac, you are out of luck. Mac OS did not automatically detect the player; it seems as if you need the Audacity software.I had considered buying one of the new remastered vinyl records, but this player is not of a high enough quality to warrant such a purchase. I grew up in the 1970s, and so I've owned record players and high quality turntables for decades. This player is somewhere between a record player and a low end stereo turntable from the 1970s: Good for playing worn out records from the past, and digitizing them, but not much else.
