Works great. Very strong support, even for a 250 lb. guy.
This fit an executive chair I bought several years ago at an office supply box store. I had a terrible time extracting the old gas cylinder, but eventually read a post online with wisdom that I'd like to pass on to you.IF YOUR OLD CYLINDER GETS STUCK, 1. Spray lube (I used spray silicone lube) and leave it for at least 30 minutes. Spray both sides of the stuck area if you can reach them. 2. If the gas cylinder is stuck in the base (like mine was), then have someone lift the chair several inches in the air and then you hammer the base part, preferably with a rubber mallet to prevent damage to the base. Eventually, the base will not be able to sustain the blows and it will fall to the floor, finally dislodging the gas cylinder. My gas cylinder was also stuck into the bottom of the seat. Eventually, I had someone turn the seat of the chair upside down, and then I had them hold the stuck gas cylinder, which was pointing up. I hammered the rest of the metal seat hardware into which the cylinder was stuck, and eventually the base of the seat fell off of the gas cylinder to the floor. It wasn't the easiest job, but it was the only way I could figure out to get these very, very stuck pieces out.Good luck!

Easy replacement at a low cost
Anyone who has ever purchased an office chair with a hydraulic cylinder supporting the seat knows that eventually that cylinder will wear out, causing the seat to sink to a lower level.A replacement cylinder is an easy and inexpensive repair: for $15-40, you can replace the cylinder, extending the years of use that you can get out of a chair. With new chairs going anywhere from $100-1000, the choice is simple. It took me literally TWO MINUTES to replace the cylinder in my chair. The process is simple: turn the chair on its side, then knock the cylinder out of the base with a rubber hammer (or use a regular hammer or sledge with a block of wood set against the exposed bottom of the cylinder). Next, take a pipe/plumber’s wrench and turn the top of the cylinder free from the bottom of the seat. If things are tight on either end, simply hit the area with WD 40, let sit 30 minutes and then dislodge the old cylinder. There are plenty of YouTube videos available showing the process.Highly recommend this or any other replacement cylinder, especially the “heavy duty” types that can easily support 450 lbs.

Value priced. Quality Product.
Even though it was the lowest price I found at the time I shopped, the product was very satisfactory, well made.If you haven't changed one of these before, watch a few YOUTUBE's. Getting the old one out is the hard part. They are press fitted on both ends so you have to hammer them out and you might have to unscrew the seat from the top.Installing is as easy. You drop it in the hole in the base. Place the seat on the top and push it down and then sit down, carefully when you first load it. Then it locks into place and is ready to go with a press fit.

So Far, So Good...Some Installation Advice.
Received the replacement cylinder in a couple days and it fit perfectly....once I wrestled out the old cylinder. So far, so good; as to durability, only time will tell. There are a lot of YouTube videos showing how to replace these cylinders; most using a new chair but we know that it can take quite a bit of effort to remove the old cylinder. I used WD-40, a pipe wrench, vise grips with a small sledge hammer and a lot of pithy epithets, all to no avail...UNTIL I put a heat gun to the collar of the tilt control "framitz" where the top of the cylinder inserts...VOILA, a couple whacks of the sledge on the vise grips and the little bugger came loose. Hope this works for you, too.

This product IS NOT HEAVY DUTY!!! JUNK!!
JUNK: this lift cylinder replacement is a cheap knock off and a complete waste of time. After writing ZITRIOM to inform them the "Heavy Duty" cylinder they sold me via Amazon was leaking after only 9 short months of service, the replacement is doing the exact same thing now after only two months! The original that came with my rather heavy solid wood framed leather high back executive chair lasted well over a decade, probably closer to two. Not this cheap junk.Note of warning: if you buy this cheap junk and go through all the effort to remove it from the chair base, which I had to use a large plumber's pipe wrench and a small sledge hammer to finally break it free (at one point I seriously had my doubts), you will probably in very short order be faced with the same problem all over again. Thus, replacing your chair with a sub-standard quality product such as this from ZITRIOM will only lead to intense frustration and disappointment. It's simply not worth it. AVOID.In lieu of writing ZITRIOM for yet another replacement and shipping at their expense, I will now wash my hands of ZITRIOM and their cheap products and look elsewhere for a proper "heavy duty" cylinder replacement. Wish me good providence on getting their leaky cylinder out. Hopefully this cheap junk won't require me to replace the base, as was necessary when replacing the cylinder in the first place, because the original would not budge. I'll see if I'm successful at getting rid of ZITRIOM's junk as I lubricated the base with automotive bearing grease before installation, but these cylinders tend to get firmly seated and stuck in the base. As you can see, there's much more to it than simply taking things apart and fitting a new part in; it's not worth the frustration, time, and expense to buy this poor quality product if it is so labor intensive to remove, only to have it fail a short time later. This product IS NOT HEAVY DUTY and should be labelled as such. Obviously ZITRIOM is more interested in profit and deceiving the public than offering true quality products as they advertise; and that is their choice. Shame on them. However, I shall make a note to never purchase from them again; I advise you do likewise.Peace and grace.

Great repair of office chair
I had no idea that one could repair the gas lift mechanism on office chairs. My brother purchased one and replaced it on his chair, and with his recommendation I purchased one as well. It is amazingly easy to replace and makes the chair look and feel just like new again. Saved $100's of dollars not replacing the whole char.

Will last for about a year :/
Amazing quality however durability is questionable. I am barely 50kgs in weight, only user of my office chair and yet the gas lift gave way in less than a year, bought it in Feb last year and its sinking again now. Slightly overpriced for an item that needs to be replaced in less than a year.

This item arrive on time from the supplier and is just as it appears in the photo. There are no installation instructions but you can find videos on line. The replacement cylinder is much taller than stock chair cylinders so you can lift seat higher if needed.
