This is a fantastic product. We were paying high maintenance charges for an old-fashioned burglar alarm which kept giving false alarms when spiders set off the detectors at night. But we were genuinely concerned whether the Arlo cameras would be an adequate replacement, whether we would be able to fit the Arlo cameras to external brick walls ourselves and whether they would work at all with a larger property with very slow and weak WiFi. We need not have worried as everything turned out to be easy and to work well.We love everything about this product especially the geofencing feature which arms all the cameras automatically when we move away from the property and we have set them to come on overnight too. We have the cameras set to detect people and animals and we love checking every morning to see what animals have been detected overnight, mostly foxes and cats in our area so far!One area where Arlo could still improve though is in giving more advice about how high to mount their cameras and how to point them as we had to learn this ourselves by trial and error. This was particularly the case with a camera at the front of the property where it was quite tricky to get it to detect movement in the front of the property but without it being triggered constantly by people or vehicles walking or moving on a public road nearby. We also have hard bricks which are difficult to drill into but it turned out the solution was to drill into the softer mortar between the bricks instead. Some simple videos to advise on such issues would have helped a lot. We also hope that Arlo keep maintaining these products on the market by providing security updates for many years into the future, they owe this to their customers.However we repeat that this is an amazing product and the relatively high initial cost is easily justified by the ease of diy installation, the amazing performance, the very good app and the relatively low monthly cost of monthly cloud storage and we are very happy with our Arlo doorbell and cameras.

I bought the Arlo Pro 4 to replace an older, cheaper camera that had poor battery life. The camera monitors the back door and driveway. There are reasonable levels of activity with people, deliveries and a cat from time to time but the promise of up to 6 MONTHS of battery life was very appealing and I thought this would solve my power issues. I invested despite the high price of the camera and can only say how disappointed I am in the battery life. Yes I started at higher, better quality HD settings with high sensitivity on the motion detection but I turned that all of some days ago and went to low quality images with a reduced motion detection area etc etc. Anything I could find to help the battery life. Despite this I am down to 26% on the battery after only FIVE DAYS in service during mild, dry weather. I am going to try a £60 Arlo solar panel to see if that helps keep it ticking over but with the British Winter coming I am not too hopeful. If I'd known then what I know now I would not have bought this camera. PS - I have scoured the support sites and forums and have tried everything I can find in terms of settings etc so please don't tell me to change this that and the other setting as I have probably already done it. It is simple, the camera has very good features but is power hungry and the batteries aren't big enough or good enough.

It' not as effective as advertised, and I don't believe it's as effective as described by the many 'independent' reviews found online either. In today's age I cannot fathom how products can be sold with blatantly false performance claims. Overall, a frustrating purchase.1. It provides a reasonable image in clear daylight.2. It provides a very low quality pixelated image at night. It's miniature infrared LEDs are far too small to project IR light on any target further than 2m away such that you cannot see anything in infrared mode.3. You can use its inbuilt torch mode instead of infra red. This is a little better, but at best you will see images of ghostly/pixelated people, and there is no chance of reading a car numberplate. You can't even see any black text on a numberplate, just a pixelated yellow square!4. Unless you have it permanently connected to the mains via its usb charger, it will only record live (i.e. when you are watching via the app) or when it senses movement. With a subscription it will save the recordings it makes after sensing movement. This means, every morning when I get in the car to drive to work, it should record my car as it drives right infront of the camera. Some mornings, it captures this perfectly. Some mornings it fails to notice my car moving at all. We live at the end of our road, our drive offers the only turning space - the bin lorry uses our drive to turn around. Sometimes, the camera fails to record the bin lorry, despite it being utterly unmissable.5. On misty/damp evenings, condensation forms on the camera, and you can't see anything at all until the sun warms the camera up on the following morning. This is a common problem - look it up and see.6. It's microphone works, but it's speaker function doesn't. You can hear what the camera hears via the app, but you can't, for example, speak back to a delivery driver through it. This loss of function is a common problem. Look it up and see!7. As many people indicate. The advertised battery life is nonsense. Ours dropped from 100% to 70% in three days. We've connected ours to its matching solar panel which is at least keeping the charge topped up. I don't know what people without the solar panel do!I seldom write reviews for anything. In the decades I've been buying from Amazon I think this is the second truly critical review I've posted.Don't buy this camera.
