Effective and Not Stinky
I have a long and storied hatred of citronella that dates back to 7th grade and a prolonged camping trip with my family from San Diego up to Vancouver and back... and at the time, the citronella candles my parents bought were heinously stinky and to this day, a whiff of citronella makes me ill. However, we needed some for our backyard, and this one actually isn’t heinously overpowering. The scent is pretty gentle and overall the candle does a pretty good job of keeping bugs away. We sometimes pair it with a little spritz of a fogger we bought and a few sprays of repellant on ourselves if we’re going to be outside for awhile. But I have been pleasantly surprised by this candle’s longevity and lack of overwhelming stink.

Outdoor party helper
I purchased 2 of these to help me and my family from getting eaten alive while sitting outside for a little party. They take about a good ten minutes to get the scent fumes to get in the air. They are a good size. They worked for the time that I needed them. I have no complaints.

Good bye bugs
Not sure where these mosquitos are coming from these days. Part of the reason Southern California is great is because we did not have these pests. Well, not anymore. I bought this and it is working great! Only problem is that it burns pretty fast. I wish it lasted a little longer.

A necessity during mosquito season
I'm so glad these come in a six pack, and that I can do a subscription so I won't run out. Since my son and I are both grade A mosquito meat, I've had these burning just outside the door every day at dusk. It's really helped minimize the number of bites for both of us. My only wish is that it would last just a bit longer. OH - and it would be great if Cutter would send one in the galvanized bucket and the other 5 as refills. I always feel bad tossing the bucket once the candle has burned away.

Make mosquitos scram
I am a mosquito magnet, but these candles offer a good layer of protection. I usually light two or three and sit between them, and they send the mosquitos scramming. The tins come with a handle and a plastic top, making them easy to move around and good for keeping them outside when not in use. Additionally, the can that the wax comes in cools down very quickly. I’m always worried that I’m going to burn myself once the candle is low, but after a min or two, the candle holder is cooled down enough to handle.

Barely made a dent in the amount of mosquito bites I got at the lake.
We bought a couple of these candles for use at the lake where we have a marina. The mosquitoes are out in droves this year. This candle looked like it was only half full when I opened the top but I assumed that was for a reason, maybe so wax didn't spill on the ground? Anyway, the scent is OK. It has the usual citronella scent but it isn't super strong. And, as much as I really don't like citronella, it needed to be much stronger because it barely helped with mosquitoes. If I kept the bucket very close to me, I noticed some difference. People around me were getting bitten more often than I was. But if it was more than a few feet away, it had no effect. This candle is probably better for backyard decks and other areas where the mosquitoes aren't so prevalent. By the water is always worse and I have yet to find a candle of any brand that truly makes a big impact out there. In my own yard, this candle works better and I do feel it is helping some to control how many mosquitoes come around. It's very average though and, after I bought and used two of these, I have decided not to purchase more and to look for different candles and other solutions.

Perfect!
Love this bucket of citronella! Great smell and lasts a long time. Like most candles, it tends to burn down in the middle leaving a thick higher wall of wax on the outside edge.of the can. When this happens, I light the wick long enough to soften the wax and push the wax from the outside edge to the middle and let the candle burn for a bit. This redistributes the wax into an even layer and allows you to burn the candle all the way down and use all the wax

Great and does NOT attract ants!
If you've been buying the cheap citronella candles and had issues with how they attract tons of ants then you're in luck because this brand does NOT seem to attract ants. I literally have these and a cheapy brand side by side and the cheapy brand is full of ants while this one isn't touched at all. Plus these have lids to cover so they don't get rained on. They seem to last a long time and smell great. Great buy!
