This book is amazing!
The book is delightful. It’s small and portable, fits in my purse, and I take it with me and read at the park or while waiting in the car. The wisdom in the book is phenomenal. You’ll want to highlight and memorize the high points. Perfect reading for anyone who cares for little ones- even non homeschoolers.

Great enlightening read
I have a new found appreciation for Nature and studying her. There are so many lessons in her beauty that is outside the realms of subjections and books. Nature is here to care for us and educate us. We can all take a lesson from Charlotte Mason and her emphasis on Nature Study. On the surface we learn about the animals, plants, trees and waterways. But there is so much more to be learned. We learn powerful skills of observation, curiosity, compassion, empathy, survival, passion and nurturing. Along with these skills even academic lessons can be learned from science to geography, to gross and fine motor skills. I agree with Charlotte Mason that this is important to everyone and the earliest exposure the better. This book has left a everlasting impression on me and now with this grounding, I am looking forward to try anew with my children. We are going to learn and appreciate her together.

Excellent book on habits for those familiar with the Charlotte Mason method of education
This is an excellent book for someone wanting to read Charlotte Mason's philosophies on habits without actually reading her original books. The language was a little difficult for me, and I had to read the text slowly in order to reflect and figure out how to apply each idea to myself and my children. I read the negative reviews and believe I might also have felt frustrated or disappointed if I was not already familiar with the Charlotte Mason method of education and with some of her philosophy.

Great collection of clips from charlotte mason's writings
Great collection of clips from charlotte mason's writings. But definitely not a complete book! Better to buy the CM collection and get the entire meat of her offerings. This book has the "author's" favorite selections that she had highlighted and put together for herself to remember and have a quick access to. I hadn't known that when I bought it or else I would have put my money towards the real deal (CM's actual collection of books)

Loved how this simplified the most important parts of Charlotte’s first volume.
Preparing to home educate in the CM method means a lot of education for the parents as well. I only have 6 weeks to be ready to start term and needed to hit only the highlights of her volumes. This fits that bill.

True Parenting Advice
Many parents, myself included, think too many things are “rules” when they are properly known as habits. The se habits are what parents need to guide children to establish in their behavior. Once accomplished, many of the daily struggles will subside. Parents aren’t so much dictators as teachers/guides to bring children to know better. I see many times where I expected some behavior but failed to show them. I would be akin to yelling at someone who didn’t change a tire correctly, but the person was never really taught the proper way to do it. Great perspective on raising children.

Essentially good habits
I loved reading this as explains well how habits are formed and lists the good habits we need to learn in our lifetimes. Charlotte Mason a UK governess and all her wisdom to do with establishing good habits in our children. Worth reading whether you home educate or not.

Great concept though
Written in quite confusing manner. I understand it, but takes a while to read just because of how it's written. Great concept though, just wish it was written for simpler minds.

Dog training for kids
Healthy habits have their place. Teeth/hair brushing, hand washing, meal times (if your work/life balance allows. But this nonsense is a book full of reasons to obedience train your kids. It's not even a practical "how to", just a "why you should" and the answer is: because its is your childs duty to be obedient. The obvious outdated nature of Charlotte Masons ramblings becomes apparent on the first two pages when she describes alcoholism as a habit and urges the reader to decide when to allow their child to have feelings.I'm really pleased that we have come so far in behavioural science and neurology since whatever-the-he'll time warp this was written in, and most of us know better than to dog train our children.Absolutely horrible, self gratifying nonsense.
