I use it to cut cardboard boxes and it does a stellar job. It can be operated with a battery or directly plugged in. Worth it.

While this is expensive, the convenience of 2 batteries, and smooth operation are worth it. This baby cuts through 8 layers of quilting cotton or interfacing and the cuts are accurate way beyond what I could have produced with regular scissors. Great time saver when making masks or bibs in quantity. In addition, it not not as noisy as my hair dryer. Best sewing purchase I have ever made, after my sewing machine, of course.
