I purchased this for my granddaughter. She is 9. Not a toy or themed combo. She can and did catch fish with this combo. Tackle box is in need of a real tackle box., although it has a decent collection of stuff.

Had to repair reel multiple times but then it gave out and stopped reeling altogether.

Great buy on a good combination package. I bought two of these for my grand kids. Telescoping rods make them easier to store and pack around.They are from a well known manufacturer, even came with lures. and the kids love them.

The rod is OK but the reel broke at first use. Poor quality.

you get what you pay for... not recommended for the avid fisherman... the tackle box is compact but has alot of useful items... the rod seems to be as good as any other cheap breakdown rod I've seen... the reel is very cheaply made of mostly plastic, the one I recieved the line was birdnested in the bell right out of the package so I had to tear it down and cut out the tangled mess... seems to work OK now but don't expect it to last longI'll take it out for a test drive in the next few days... but most likely slap an old 202 on the pole... bottom line pretty much what I expected for the price
