Point of View lesson
I am a teacher and work in a small group atmosphere. I have majority of boys and I try to find books that are appropriate and would seek their interests. Iguanas are definitely on their list of topics to read about! I used this book to teach about Point of View. This is an adorable story! The boy and his mother write letters back and forth about the reasons why or why not he should get an Iguana as a pet. The letters were used so the students could point out the key words that help identify what point of view the story is being told. They also used the letters to compare and contrast the points of view between the mother and son. Perfect book for my lesson and it was funny as well!

We love love love this book so much. The subject is fun, colors are vibrant, kids don't even realize they are getting a "persausive writing" lesson from reading this book. It's easy for them to follow along, learn new words and techniques that are invaluable to them in real life situations. love this book 100000%

I WANNA, I WANNA, I WANNA ...
THIS BOOK DESERVES A MEDAL AND I WILL GIVE YOU THE REASONS FOR THIS STARTING WITH THE STRONGEST REASON.... no just kidding... I will not try to persuade you to buy this book like the little boy Alex "successfully" persuades his mom to buy him an iguana... This is an excellent book to kickstart a writing lesson or a debating lesson on persuasion - an what a hoot... an age level I think in the elementry grades would find this entertaining and be able to also find some text-self understanding here. Every child from the dawning of time has always wanted a pet... be i a small one like a fish or hamster.... but what about an iguana he/she is small now but???Terrific book - The kids and YOU will love it

Please Please Please I Wanna Iguana
This is the best iguana book. It’s funny. We like the illustrations. It gives children ideas on how to persuade their parents to get them something. We like how Alex used repetition, strong vocabulary and information to persuade his parents. We noticed that everything was done through letter writing between Alex and his Mom. Their were lots of details where the author used senses for writing. We even got to see Alex in the future.
