Perfect fit. Wear an 8 1\2. Ordered size 39N Amazed at the glove fit. For anyone with flat flexible feet whose toes spread (genetic defect), Berkinstocks are the ideal fit. My feet look wide barefooted but M medium shoes are either too wide or become too big afyer wear. Being able to tighten the two strap sandal is the BIG PLUS, Infact had to tighten up to the last hole to avoid a loose fit. I've admired this brand for many many years but having had to wear correctional Oxford as a child the thought of a heavy LOOKING shoe always stopped me from purchasing Berkinstocks. I've tried them on every year since being advised they'd be comfortable for my type feet which has affected my back, hip and knees. Looking down at my feet made feet look bigger plus they felt hard. I've always been so picky about shoes LOOKING GOOD on these feet, I'd put them back and buy the latest style in leather and suede. As I said I've always admired others who wear them. The shoe spells expensive taste, however I'd buy 4 or 5 pair of another brand which ended up in closet by end of seasons. I couldn't wait until end of day to put on a pair of the dozens of house slippers. Taking off work, causal or dress shoes occuppied my mind all day or night. For anyone with flat flexible feet NOTICE everyone's feet, toes and shoes know this feeling. Seeing BERKINSTOCK wearers looking so comfortable, relaxed and confident has always awed me. Still I refused to spend $140. 00 to experiment with another brand. Bought them for my children because THEY WERE "THE IN SHOE" everyone was wearing didn't justify buying myself a pair. My daughters didn't inherit my feet. I assumed was why they'd wear The Berkinstock completely out and wanted every style.Online shopping especially with AMAZON gave me the opportunity since retirement to read reviews plus research shoes. Thanks to the thousands who give Berkinstocks 5 Stars, I decided to order a pair, after measuring my feet. I knew from the many years of trying them on I would need a 39N (8 1/2). I chose the Velvet Gray suede. Due to this color being so popular I waited for restocking.They arrived 2 days after order. Honestly I was expecting to be disappointed. To my greatly appreciated amazement they fit perfect, as I described above. Due to having always being disappointed with how a shoe felt, I honestly intimidated these fit TOO WELL. Sounds silly, but if you knew how many thousands of shoes I've thrown money away on you'd understand exactly what I mean. Now that I live on a fixed income $140.00 isn't chump change to me it's important and a nessicity for every dollar to stretch. My point being, had I purchased the Berkinstocks years ago, I could've and would've saved thousands of $$$$$ on shoes and house slippers alone. Having more time to read reviews truly contributes to buying wisely, plus AMAZON has an amazing staff in Customer Service whenever I need to return an item. I no longer put things I can't use in the closet or give it away, I simply return and reorder. Their SHIPPING DEPT. is amazing as well, therefore waiting 2 days for a purchase to be delivered at my door truly is a time saver. I absolutely love Online shopping for this reason, plus no pressure from salespeople or having to go all over town shopping, then bring them in. Being able to try things out in home gives one more time to decide how it looks or fit.I recommend Berkinstocks for anyone not only for comfort, go anywhere shoes, but SAVE $$$. I ordered my regular size which is 39 and received 40. The shoe is longer than 39. I looked up and it said it was a size 9. Did the sizing change?

I ordered a black pair of Birkenstocks size 8 narrow and was sent a brown pair. They fit great so I am keeping them.

I am a faithful birks girl because I have plantar fasciitis and can only wear birks. You can’t go wrong with these! The oiled brown leather birks with brassy gold buckles are so perfect for every wardrobe! They go with absolutely everything! Cute enough to wear to work. I’m a size 8.5-9 and the 39 fit perfectly! Cant go wrong highly recommend! Super comfy and stylish for every wardrobe!

I have a pair of Berkinstocks that I have had for years. You slide your foot into them (not sure of exactly what type of design that is, but I wouldn't call it a sandal really, although you would have to wear socks for your foot to be completely covered at the heel. However, your toes do not show and they are not a thong. At any rate, I love them and have always loved them for their comfort and the style never seems to go out. I wanted to try a pair of sandals and tried several different designs before finding one I was happy with. I first ordered a pair of thongs, that had the Birkenstock name, but were not called Birkenstock (the Betulas) but the foot bed was not soft, they were too small and too tight. I returned them for a pair of slide in, not a thong, and liked them, but I thought they showed too much of my toes/in a weird sort of way (the Arizonas), and that they made my toes look big and ugly. I exchanged them again for the thong design and although they are little uncomfortable between the toes, not so much so that I believe they will stretch and get comfortable, as soon as they are worn for a couple weeks. I like the way they look but the foot bed doesn't feel as soft as the slide in/Arizona's that I had. I am going to keep them and as I said, I like them enough that I believe they will stretch out (the ones I have ended up being satisfied with are the Adria design. I loved the way the Arizona's look and feel, just not on my foot. I am obviously hard to please, but am a fan of Berkinstocks since I have had my first pair and was confident I could find a pair I liked.

I will get to the point; if you are a male with narrow feet, order the narrow models. I am a male, size 9 1/2 150 pounds and 5'8" and my feet are 3 3/4 inches wide. I ordered the narrow model and I can say they are perfectly sized for both width and length. I never owned or wore sandals until this pair; it was an awkward experience at first but after a few non consecutive miles in them they are breaking in nicely. I will admit, the first time was painful, the second time less so and so forth. The materials are of the highest quality; I do not buy cheap shoes at my age (45) anymore, as I have found they overall cost me more. I anticipate these to last 7-10 years. As always, your experience may and will vary.

The shoes are great, and just what I wanted, but I had to order twice and send the first pair back. Both pairs I ordered were described as leather, but the first ones sent were made from Birkoflor artificial leather. I ordered another pair from the same seller while waiting for a refund, and had to pay quite a lot more for them. I wasn’t happy, but 38 regular is a difficult size to find and I didn’t want to risk not getting them. Take care to examine what you are sent carefully!
