Excellent enthusiast device, be aware of compromises
EDIT: For those wanting to know, this device has the WW (global) ROM, not the CN (Chinese) ROM. This is good news. You can apply updates to that ROM if you check out this link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/update-your-asus-rog-5-tencent-ww-version-easy-and-on-the-phone.4296575/This is technically a Tencent (Chinese) variant that has the WW ROM preloaded, which means you cannot unlock the Bootloader as it can only be unlocked once. Once the WW ROM was preloaded, it was relocked.Coming from the OnePlus 7 Pro (after OnePlus taking a dive in quality, especially with their latest OS updates), there were certain things I was looking for. Here's the need to know:- 60hz, 120hz, 144hz, or "Auto". The screen is buttery smooth, doesn't stutter. 144hz does dim the screen slightly as to not overconsume power, but it's barely noticeable. If it is, 120hz doesn't and is perceptually just as smooth.- Battery life. Holy smokes, did you forget to charge your phone last night? No problem? The night before too? Also fine. 6000 mAh battery is a beast, and you could get several days out of it if you turned down the screen refresh rate. You can choose to cap out charging to 80% - 90% to preserve battery health, force slow/steady charging, and more. Honestly it's brilliant.- Gaming features: A little convoluted, but the X Mode / "Armory Crate" can be very useful to fine-tune performance profiles for each of your games. It's optional, so you don't have to use it, but nice if you do want it. The back-side glowing logo thing is configured from here. I chose to keep mine off, but you can use it just like the notification LED if you want. No complaints here.- T-Mobile US, works fine. This phone is an "international version" but I seem to be getting service on all bands, similar to my previous T-Mobile phone. I believe they pushed some software/firmware updates to support the US better, more recently. I haven't noticed any 5G, but I'm not confident I get that in my living area. I'm traveling later and will update this if I can find 5G anywhere. But overall no complaints there. Note: Not sure if I'm getting WiFi calling, but the VoLTE logo fires up so I guess that's working at least?- Cameras: not great, but they work fine. I was willing to accept this compromise since I take about one photo a week anyway. If you take more pictures, you'll probably be fine. I'd suggest looking for a GCam version that's compatible to get considerable camera quality improvements. It mainly just struggles with low-light or extremely high dynamic range.- Home launcher and themes: Not the best, but not bad either. You can't use custom icons packs unless they come bundled with an ASUS theme store theme, of which none are great. You can use a third-party launcher, of which the support is the best I've seen. Mostly glitch-less with the existing gesture navigations.- Two trigger sensor/buttons. You can adjust every details of positioning, sensitivity, and all else. They're great and I have no bad thing to say about them.- Quirks: There's two USB ports for charging, one on the bottom (offset to the left, strangely), and one on the left middle side. The left one is covered by a rubber cover that VERY easily falls off. The phone comes with a couple extras, so ASUS definitely knew it would be a problem.- Dual Sim. If ya need it. Living stateside render this unnecessary, but I will absolutely utilize it if and when I leave the states.- Sound. The speakers ROCK. It can get loud, and for the first time in my life I've heard mid to lows coming out of my phone. Best in class.- No water proofing (though I think it has some resistance in it). No wireless charging, though you might not miss it.- Top and bottom bezels. This phone screen is the same exact dimension as your non-bezel counterparts, like the newer OnePlus's or Samsung's, with the bezels ADDING height instead of taking away from the screen size. This means it's a slightly taller phone. I was worried I wouldn't like it from the pictures. But holding it in my hands I have no complaints and love the way it looks.- Finger print scanner: subpar at best. It's slow and has false negatives. However, I am using a tempered glass screen protector which adds spacing between finger and scanner, and lower accuracy. I re-registered my thumbs and pointer fingers being careful about natural placement when unlocking, and that resolved 90% of the problem. It's still the slowest scanner I've used, but it works fine. Pair that with face-unlock (which is lightening fast) and you won't have any complaints. You'll get use to it all in good time.- Case: It's wonky, but looks good and fits surprisingly tight.- ROG OS: It's fast, stable, non-glitchy, and has everything most people need. It's lacking in a couple of the visual areas, like color scheme or navigation controls, but what it does have is nice and works fine. That's 'about it. Great phone, not perfect in a couple areas, but delivers on its promises.

Though it might have been a scam at first but I did received the correct product.
So far the phone has worked great but I do have some small complaints after using it for quite a while now.The biggest complaint is that it doesn't have support out of the box for WI-FI calling. I live in a house that is badly positioned to receive cell coverage so I normally depend on having WI-FI to receive calls when I'm at home. Unfortunately there is no support built in to the phone for this feature after you receive it. There are a few alternatives to correct this that I'm looking into but I hope that there will be a update to fix this in the US as I know android supports it normally on Samsung phones.Other then that it has worked great for uploading photos and browsing the web. I have used it for a little bit of gaming hear and there and have had no problems. The battery life is amazing and I don't have to charge it often. The LEDs on the back have been fun to mess with and I am hoping to use this phone for the next 4 years at least.(UPDATE) So it turns out its on my provider to enable the feature for wifi calling. I have gotten it working now using the providers (Tello) app.

UPDATE: THERE'S A MOTHERBOARD ISSUE WITH WIFI
From one moment to the other, the device restarted and now WiFi and Hotspot won't work. Apparently this is a known problem with the Tencent version of this phone (the one sold here) and the only solution is to replace the motherboard through the manufacturer, with some people having replaced it 3 times. DON'T GET THIS VERSION OF THE PHONE. DON'T GET ANYTHING ASUS EVER.Previous review:This thing is FAST. Blazes through anything you throw at it, and the 144Hz 10-bit OLED screen is just beautyful!I recieved the phone in great condition. Works great on my carrier (check that! it came with a huge sticker saying NOT COMPATIBLE WITH VERIZON/SPRINT). The phone can run most games without batting an eye. Only the most demanding games will make it heat up after a while at max graphics, but performance is still great, it's just more worrying to burn your fingers or reduce the battery health through the heat. Battery life is OK now that it's new, and can easily last a day assuming you're not playing a demanding game for more than 4 hours a day (you can play while connected to the charger and it can bypass the battery to keep your battery health high). There's two downsides with this phone: the camera and the fingerprint reader. The camera is decent, but very inconsistent in terms of saturation and a waaay too aggressive HDR. Some photos will come out bland while others come out oversaturated, and the HDR makes it so that it looks like some things have a halo of light around them. Has 8x Zoom, a Wide angle lens and a Macro lens. The on-screen fingerprint reader is also not perfect. Just registering a fingerprint is a miracle when 70% of the time it can't read your finger, saying "The fingerprint sensor is dirty. Please clean it and try again".I hope these are software issues and can be fixed through an update. For now, I let my gf or my relatives take the photos with their phones with significantly better cameras, and use face recognition or a pin combination when unlocking the phone.
