Excellent analysis of Kursk disaster and consequences in world affairs
This is a truly excellent discussion of the Kursk disaster; what is known, what can likely never be known and how to approach it, and how the disaster was used by Putin to secure his dominance in Russian government. The author also gives an insightful analysis of how developments in marine weaponry could impact world affairs in the not too distant future, nor is it a very hopeful picture for the USA.Two words the author does not mention: Donald Trump. The author warns us how we must elect leaders who have what it takes to stand to Vladimir Putin and to outsmart him. It is painfully clear that Donald Trump is not that man. Indeed, Trump cozies up to Putin and does his bidding. This book provides a prominent warning as why Donald Trump must be defeated in the upcoming election, even if it never says that.

Explains in somewhat non-technical terms a technical subject
Well written, not so technical of what could be a highly technical subject. Also written with feelings and emotion for the sailors of Mural and their families.

A homage to men (and now women) who dare to sail under the seas.
As a career submariner who was at sea in the north Atlantic US Navy boat when the Thresher was lost, it is with renewed sadness and appreciation that this book was read. If you have not visited the ocean's deeps it would difficult, if not impossible to imagine the terror of dying in a submarine. The men of Thresher and Scorpion and the many other boats from a number of nations probably knew the were doomed for a matter of seconds and maybe even a minute or two. The valiant sailors of Kursk knew their fate for a still undetermined days. Author Reed pulls the curtain back from the shadows surrounding this tragic loss. All submariners mourn with our Russian brothers.

Great read and troublesome warnings!
This is a real page turner; you won't want to put it down! W. Craig Reed's research is meticulous and his conclusions are soundly supported. The end of his book offers his warnings about conflicts with Russia and China particularly over oil, gas, and other resources in the Arctic Ocean, which our country does not appear to be prepared for. Russian and Chinese superiority in torpedo technology is troubling. I highly recommend this author and this book.
