It works but it's a hassle and doesn't solve all of the problems with mounting your Brinno outside
Definitely does what it says. I don't feel like it does quite enough, though. My biggest problem is just that there is no rain shield. The lens protector area will get rained on and ruin your video. I fashioned a rain shield out of a cheap small and deep plastic bin from the hardware store. The problem with that, though, is that those tend not to be UV resistant and over time in the hot sun it will probably start to crack and disintegrate. It would be nice if the housing itself had a functional rain shield. All it needs is 2 little hinge indentations in the housing and a cheap UV-resistant piece of plastic that slots into the hinges in a way that remains resistant to wind. Also, make sure you insert some silica packets or strips to wick up any moisture in the air or you could be looking at ruined videos and maybe even damaged cameras. There's just a tiny bit of room around the camera for some strips. The wall mount is pretty mediocre, though. The screws it comes with are anemic, thin and short, and only screw in to perfectly flat solid wood. If you want to use your own screws, you'll probably need to drill out the screw holes to make them wide enough. I did this because I needed to use nice long beefy screws to screw it into a tree stump and through the improvised rain shield. The camera mount area of it is not terribly tight. The Brinno is pretty lightweight, but the mount still feels like it's just barely beefy enough to hold it steady. My rain shield will also be a pretty good windbreaker, so we'll see how the final video turns out.
