Style over substance
ToasterQuite good but is not big enough for really big slices.Nothing special really, quite plasticy and cheap in person.KettleAdvantages- Looks good- Fast boiling- Has a nice sound when you shut it- I like the button to open the lid.- Large capacity- Tall so it doesn't take up much space on the worktopDisadvantages- It's actually a plastic kettle but looks like aluminium/steel in pictures. This is quite deceptive as many people are looking for a metal kettle now to avoid microplastics. Quite plasticy and cheap in person.- It's very hard to read the level on the side as it's covered by the handle which casts a big shadow over it and gets in the way. This means you have to guess the level or put it down and squint at the indicator for a while.

Average toaster
The positives:It looks nice. It's easy to use.The negatives:If your bread's thick, or not completely flat, it's liable to get stuck and then pieces get caught inside and break off as you try to remove the toast, then it's a pain trying to get the lost/stuck chunks of bread out of the toaster. You also can't get four pieces of bread (back to back) in the slots - if you try, they WILL get stuck and burn, then, as above, they'll get caught and chunks will be left behind inside the toaster. (I'm fully aware this isn't a four slice toaster but we could do this in our old 2-slice one.)The temperature dial is loose and tends to move easily if knocked.
