A Batman story on par with the best from DC!
For those of you who are Batman fans - and I'm talking about comic fans, the people who enjoy Hush and Knightfall and End Game (Scott Snyder's entire run, for that matter), this is the video game you've been waiting for. I've played all the TellTale games, so I was expecting a decent production, but this game has vastly exceeded my wildest expectations. This is TellTale's best effort yet, even better than The Wolf Among Us or Tales From The Borderlands. The most important aspect of any Batman experience is the story, and in they really nailed it. I would place this story on par with any of the great story arcs in Batman print. Many thanks to DC for giving TellTale so much creative freedom and permitting them to approach this game as an "Else World"... it essentially reinvents Batman and a host of other major characters, portraying them at a time of their origin, but during contemporary times. In other words, it's 2016 and Batman's been on the job less than a year, Two Face is still a respected politician, Selena Kyle just met Bruce Wayne, and nobody has ever heard of the Penguin or the Joker. In this game, that format works AWESOME, because you get to decide just how hard boiled you want Batman to be.I was riveted from episode 1 through 5, and couldn't wait to find out what happened next. I want to emphasize this point, because being such a big fan of Batman, I have VERY high expectations for storylines and I don't hesitate to criticize them when they fall short. I also have to commend TellTale for being so prompt this time around, and releasing a new episode every month (just like a comic series!), instead of the sporadic, unpredictable messes we've seen in the past.As far as the gameplay goes, it's a huge step up from the previous TellTale games. Episode 1 is fairly vanilla, but they steadily improve, until it's like TellTale made some kind of crazy evolution over the course of producing this game. Towards the end of the game, I actually kind of felt like Batman, because the action was so danged cool. Yes, it's still quick-time based, but it's just incredibly smooth and visually pleasing. There are also several sequences where you do detective work, and these play great. Although these parts are quite easy, they're still fun, and let's face it - with Batman's gear, solving crimes IS pretty easy.I also like this new format of the "Season Pass Disc", although I was initially turned off by it. The reason it's great is because in the past, I would have to wait until the entire season had been released digitally, plus another one or two months, before a retail option was available. Now I don't have to do that, so I hope they continue this trend. For those of you who don't want to do ANY downloading, just wait a little longer, and they'll release something like the "Minecraft Story Mode Complete Adventure" disc - but that means you have to wait quite a long time before you can start playing.I CANNOT wait for another TellTale Batman game. Hopefully TellTale will continue to be successful and be able to increase their staff and production output without diminishing their excellent quality. I would love to see several more Batman games, another season of The Wolf Among Us (or two, or three!), and hey, TellTale, if you're listening... how about a game focused on Damian Wayne as he conducts his globetrotting "Year of Blood"?

Please read this before you BUY it
I'm a really big Batman fan and I just want to let you know that this is a really good game in my opinion I love it! This game came out around 3 months ago but theres people that may not know that they release an episode every month. So far they've released 3 and there's 5 in total. Some people complain about getting an epsiode every month and yeah that kinda sucks but it doesn't take away that it's an amazing game! This game has a really good story and on the gameplay you make up the choices for Bruce Wayne/Batman and the story goes along based on the decisions you make so you have to be careful. this is not a fighting game, it's more of a choice making game and see how your choices affect the story in the game so don't expect any open world game like Arkham knight. That's why there's people who are "disappointed" because there's not that much action and the graphics. But this is a telltale game it's suppose to look like a comic. Don't let people fool you that this is a bad game. They just go with the mindset of believing it's like the Arkham Asylum. But yeah I really recommend this game if you're into Batman and good story. I want telltale to make a season 2 for this that's how good the game is even though though the 1st season isn't over. So please people don't complain about it not being like Arkham knight/Asylum this is a telltale game. I really recommend it, bought this game digital and case to support it and increase the chance of making a season 2.

tl;dr it's a good telltale game but it definitely could be better
Ah yes, Telltale's take on the Batman universe. I was pretty excited for this game, ever since Telltale Studios hit it big with their Walking Dead games, they've released game after game after game AFTER GAME on all sorts of different IPs. Game of Thrones, more Walking Dead, Borderlands, Minecraft, Homestar Runner and a Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy just got announced. Personally my favorite was The Wolf Among Us, it got me reading the Fables series of comics, which is grea- Ahhh, I'm getting off track, back to Batman. My point is, I was looking forward to this game, because I've been a pretty big Batman fan for years now.So, how is it? Well, for a Telltale Studios game consisting of your typical dialogue options and quick time events, it's pretty decent, but I have a few issues. Since this is an episodic episode, I'm gonna review it piece by piece. Oh, and please keep in mind, there's gonna be some minor spoilers, since this is every episode.Episode 1: First episode made a decent impression, it starts out pretty nicely, with Batman fighting a group of armed thugs that break into City Hall. One thing that I love is that they don't have to explain Batman's origin story in this, I personally feel like that's been done to death, and I'm glad it's absent from the first episode. If you like Bruce Wayne, you'll like this episode, there's plenty of interaction with the billionaire playboy, whether it's helping fund Harvey Dent's mayoral campaign, or it's doing detective work in the Batcave, there's not a whole lot of interaction with playing as that Bat himself. Though, the best part in this episode, is easily Bruce's second encounter with Selina Kyle, it's very well put together, and with the correct options selected, you can make some interesting dialogue. Which brings me to my flaw, I don't like the dialogue options. The whole idea is that Bruce Wayne is supposed to be this careless billionaire who looks like he doesn't care about anything unless it's fast cars, his company, or hot models. So at times it just felt like you couldn't be that part of Bruce Wayne. Overall though, pretty good episode, 8/10.Episode 2: The second episode...Okay, I gotta say, is a huge improvement over the first episode. In this episode, the crime lord Falcone that was in the first episode is arrested by the GCPD, and put in a medical ward, but dies after a poisoned Renee Montoya kills him from the drugs found in the prior episode, and now it's all about finding out who's controlling the drugs now. The episode feels a bit slow at times, and then you get to the mayor debate between Dent and Hill which goes horribly wrong, and the ending, THE ENDING IS AWESOME. You get that awesome tension moment that Telltale Games is great at providing, where you get to decide who lives and who dies, and it's just great.Episode 3: Third episode is...interesting. Batman goes after the newly revealed Children of Arkham faction that caused the hostage situation at the mayoral debates in the second episode. Catwoman shows up again, and helps out. She takes a wounded Bruce back to her apartment, patches her up an- HOLY S**T, are they...Yup, Bruce sleeps with Selina, god da- wow, o-okay. Anyways, the Wayne family is getting in hot water after more and more scandals keep coming up regarding Thomas Wayne's criminal actions, prompting Oswald Cobblepot to take control of Wayne Enterprises. The ending for this one is great too, I won't say who but.../somebody/ stabs Bruce with a pen loaded with the poison that manipulated Montoya into killing Falcone, and he lashes out at the crowd. This forces Mayor Dent to incarcerate Bruce Wayne into Arkham Asylum. When I first played through, I thought the possibly could be endless, and the playthrough in Episode 4 could have potential for being a real good episode for a Telltale game.Episode 4: Hey, so, y'know how I was excited for the Arkham Asylum experience for Bruce Wayne, and how the potential for him being driven insane or something like that could be really well explored? Well guess what, it doesn't happen. You hang out in Arkham Asylum for what feels like fifteen minutes, then you call Gordon to let him know that you're willing to testify in front of the GCPD to help bring down the Children of Arkham. I hate this episode, because it feels really rushed. Yes, they introduce Joker, but he doesn't do anything after you leave Arkham. This episode is a really good example of your choices in Telltale Games not mattering, it really sheds through the cracks the more you play, and leaves this empty soul of an episode in front of you. The ending for this one sucks, I'm guessing like 99% of players went after Penguin to end this misery of an episode, rather than go to Wayne Manor. In my opinion, Episode 4 is the worst episode in the Batman series, and I'm tempted to say the worst episode in a Telltale game, but I haven't played all of them so idk.Episode 5: Fortunately, the opening of this one is absolutely /perfect/. It engages you almost instantly with a large shootout between Dent's enforcers and the GCPD. Later on, you get a new Batsuit, confront Selina Kyle one last time, and go back to Arkham to stop Lady Arkham from her evil plans. At one point, the Children of Arkham abduct Alfred, and film him in a basement of a home, and when you get there, they're already gone, but you can tell that it wasn't a very nice place, and the crawlspace area covered in children drawings and belts being used as whip like devices is certainly disturbing, even for a Batman game. The ending is pretty basic, you defeat bad guy, bad guy probably dies, and we get a new bad guy who's probably the happiest dude on the planet. In the end, Batman: The Telltale Series is pretty decent, sure the fourth episode is garbage the more I think about it, but it was definitely fun to play over the span of three to four months. I guess the only other thing I have to say is that Telltale needs to upgrade their engine really REALLY badly. I had a pretty large frame drop when Bruce opened up a hologram in the Batcave sometimes...On a Playstation 4, which is kind of unacceptable. I'm cool with keeping the comic outline style, I think it works well, but I do think the look could be improved upon, since they've been using it since 2012 for the most part.

Telltale Batman 馃
Initially skeptical, this Telltale series has plenty of substance and enjoyable story telling. The familiar characters and setting are timeless. Should satisfy any Batman fan or any one who enjoys point and click story driven games.
