Yes, it is expensive. But if peace of mind had a dollar value, I would recommend getting this one. They last long (depending on how much is printed of course).

I will not buy any Canon printer ever again. The ink cartridges are going to cost you $400 per year at moderate use ( I got just 800 pages of printing and that was mostly black and white reports very little graphics and only 12 8x10 color photos total for the year. Only 12 because the printer does not do well on photos to begin with. The MF741Cd is just not a good printer, after a years worth of use it's just to costly and not great prints for the cost. Had Canon service the printer and they said they could not find anything wrong with it. ???? Will not buy another Canon product.

The Canon laser printer uses ink a lot faster than I thought, which means having to shell out a$150+ for their cartridge. I can see how the expense for cartridges will exceed the cost of the printer. I guess it's following the razor business model making the cost for the razor affordable, then they clobber you for the razors. Similar concept here.

The Canon toner cartridge packaging kept the toner cartridge in premium condition until I needed it. It took me less than one minute to open the packaging and install the new cartridge in the Canon printer. It dropped right into the printer and the printer was fully functional again within seconds after the installation was completed. The quality of printing was the same as the original cartridge!
