Ok... first, the Good. :)This worked, at least for me. My achille's tendonitis has subsided, my arthritic joint pain also. I've been using it for about a month now, and noticed the effects around the mid-to-end of the second week.The Bad...I bought this online, and then someone suggested that I go to my local pharmacy (CVS) and see if they carried it as well. They did... at the same price as on-line, no waiting for the delivery. AND... CVS routinely runs 2 for 1 sales, so I bought the exact same product locally, at the same price... but got TWO of them for that price.The Suggestions...1) Check your local pharmacy before buying this on line.2) Start with ONE pill a day. That's what I did, and that's been perfect for me.3) Take it right after a meal - I take mine after breakfast. It IS based on a spice, after all, and while you may not experience heartburn or some of the other WebMD listed possible effects, taking it with food will reduce those chances even more. :)So... that's the story, best of luck to all. :)

I have been using Turmeric capsules of various brands for years. I am approaching my senior years in age and I experience minor aches in my legs, arms, and shoulder joints. These aches are usually exacerbated when I do more physical labor around the house and out in the yard. I also have an enlarged prostate which gets aggravated when I lie down too much. The best working over-the-counter product I have taken for relief is naproxen sodium (AlieveTM) and because of its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, I get excellent relief after taking it. But, I prefer not to take NSAID type drugs on a daily basis because over time, they can build up in your kidneys (like any other NSAID drug such as aspirin and ibuprofen). And, if you don't drink enough water each day to flush your system, the chances of these types of pain relievers affecting your kidneys and other organs will increase. Therefore, I try to take naproxen only if I am particularly experiencing more pain due to longer and harder work periods, which for me is maybe only once or twice a month.So in the meantime, Turmeric capsules have offered moderate or better relief for me at a dosage of 1400-1500 mg per day, but I have noticed that some brands are better than others. With some brands, I get about 70%-80% of the relief that I normally get from naproxen, whereas with other brands I get little to no relief at all. I have to say that this Qunol brand of Turmeric is in that second category: very disappointing. I had high hopes for it with all their claims and advertising about its “high absorption” and “extra strength” formula. I have been taking 1000 mg per day of the Qunol (which is two softgels) on days when I experience more pain. Lately, this has been more frequent so I have been taking the Qunol every day. It may absorb well (who knows) but the analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties of the Qunol Turmeric are poor. I haven’t tried upping the dose to three softgels (1500 mg), but I think I will and update my results here in a few weeks.UPDATE: About a month ago after writing this review, I started taking (3) of the 500mg gelcaps at times when I experienced joint or muscle pain thinking that my initial impressions were perhaps missing the same advantage that I gave other products in the past at a dosage of 1500mg. Although I did start to notice a little bit of relief, the Qunol is nothing like what other products offer in terms of relief. For reference, on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being most effective and 1 the least, I would rate naproxen sodium (AlieveTM) a solid "9", and I would rate a 1500mg dose of high quality curcumin (containing 95% standardized curcuminoids and a pepperine extract) at about "7.5" to "8". I would have to give the Qunol brand of Ultra High Absorption Turmeric (which does not contain 95% standardized curcuminoids or the pepperine extract) not more than "4" but probably closer to "3.5" in terms of relief on a scale of 1 to 10. In practical terms, I still feel much of the discomfort in my joints and muscles while taking the Qunol product.I have an analytical background and I read product labels. I noticed that the better working Turmeric products generally include about 5%-10% of a black pepper extract called pepperin or BioPerine (trademarked ingredient with standardized properties). Apparently, these help the Turmeric do its job more efficiently. The Qunol Turmeric does not appear to have any of this ingredient although its label uses the words, "Turmeric Complex."You can actually buy BioPerine as a standalone product in 10 mg tablets and take it with Turmeric products that do not have it already. I did this with the Qunol Turmeric, but did not see any improvement. This leads me to believe the quality of their Turmeric is just not up to par or something else is missing.UPDATE: I just learned from a previous comment by a Mfrs. Rep of Qunol that their Turmeric softgels DO NOT contain the black pepper extract, pepperin or BioPerine, but their 1000mg extra strength original flavor liquid formula does (but NOT the Ultra High Absorption liquid in the tropical orange flavor). This is good to know in spite of the product label being a bit vague in its use of the term, "Turmeric Complex." So, although the softgels do not contain the pepperin extract, Qunol’s graphic in the fourth photo down of their softgel product listing indicates that the “Turmeric Complex” softgels are twice as strong as other Turmeric products with BioPerine (40X vs. 20X, see attached photo). I am a little leery of this claim because their liquid formula product (original flavor) DOES contain BioPrene. So, are they saying the liquid product is inferior to the softgels? That would be a good question for Qunol to clarify, but read on…Another thing I noticed about the Qunol Turmeric product is that it does not state the percentage of Standardized Curcuminoids on the label of the product, however other quality Turmeric products always list this to show the integrity of the quality. My research has taught me that Curcumin is the element in Turmeric that provides the pain relieving, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory properties to your body. All other quality brands that I have used state this very plainly on their labels, which is usually an industry standard of 95% Curcuminoids. Again, Qunol decided not to publish this on their label. This leads me to believe they are hiding something, or just not meeting this standard of quality.UPDATE: The Qunol Liquid Turmeric product listing here on Amazon (1000mg extra strength original flavor liquid formula), indicates that the liquid DOES contain the industry standard of 95% Curcuminoids (but NOT their Ultra High Absorption liquid formula in the tropical orange flavor). This is good to know in considering their softgel product only contains, "Turmeric Complex," but probably not the industry standard of 95% Curcuminoids. The same can be said of the orange flavor liquid formula. Again, is Qunol’s liquid product inferior to their softgels? The photo that I have attached would seem to indicate that the bio-absorptivity of the softgels is twice that of Turmeric products containing BioPerine (which their liquid product contains). So again, is Qunol saying their liquid product is inferior to their softgels?Also, Qunol advertises on TV which tells me either big money is behind the product, or that big profits need to be re-cooped to pay for the cost of advertising. In the latter case, it could mean that certain standards or ingredients (such as the 95% Curcuminoids and the BioPrene) were intentionally left out of their softgels to keep product costs down. Here on Amazon, I found their price point to be about 47 cents per gram of Turmeric, which is towards the higher end of the average price range compared to other quality Turmeric products here on Amazon. The average cost of other Turmeric products range from about 25 to 50 cents per gram in capsulated or softgel form (1 gram equals 1000 mg which requires two Qunol softgels; buyers here on Amazon won't discover this until they get the product in the mail and read on the label what is obscure in the product listing here on Amazon :-/ ). You can find some cheaper products and some more expensive but this range is the average cost that I have found in what seems to be "quality" Turmeric products here on Amazon (i.e., those that contain both 95% Curcuminoids and BioPerine; products with those formulations have worked best for me in the past).Because of my analytical background, I generally don't succumb to all the hype over vitamins and nutritional food supplements, which is a multi-billion dollar industry just here in the U.S. alone. The reason why this industry is so big has been the same for centuries: a good sales pitch that promises to make you feel or look better. Just like most people, I find that my mind will play tricks on me and that wishful thinking on my part will go a long ways on how well a product seems to work for me. It seems the more hype, touting, and sensationalizing of what a product can do for you, the more one wants to believe and does believe it works for them. I try to be a little more objective in my opinions rather than allowing my wishful thinking to take advantage of my wallet. But keep in mind that I am just one person and results for others will vary. I just know that I have had much better results with other Turmeric products. The Qunol liquid formula is interesting since it does contain the BioPerine (and the industry standard of 95% Curcuminoids), but because of all the misleading lack of product information and hidden information on their softgels here on their Amazon listing, I doubt I will be giving it a try.The manufacturer may be naively innocent of the misleading advertisement or hiding important information (as most of Qunol’s responses to the negative reviews imply), but if this is true I think the concerns would be corrected in their product listing and not just addressed in comments to people who have given them one or two star ratings. I will be happy to revise this review if I see that the concerns have been clearly addressed in their product listing.

Do not be fooled by the cover where it says 1000mg, each capsule is really 500mg, read the serving size at the rear... They lead you to believe each capsule is 1000mg in the front and there is no clarification on this unless you read the really really small print on the ingredients. Never buying this product again due to this dishonest approach in how it is marketed...

I bought this because I had heard rave reviews about Curcumin helping to regulate blood sugar, as an anti-inflammatory and promotes the reduction of cholesterol.Well, I'll be darned.......all my research proved true in that this product is the best and fastest absorbing brand. Remember this product is a super concentrated extract, not a cooking spice form of tumeric/curcumin.I will not post an actual copy of my test results for confidentiality for myself and the medical facility.My cholesterol has been consistently 200-250 for many yearsMy HDL has been consistently right at 30 for many yearsMy LDL has been consistently about 220 for many yearsMy Triglycerides have been consistently 310-360 for many yearsUsing only a low dose (20mg) statin for many years, my cholesterol only reduced because I switched to a no meat/low carb diet. That produced a cholesterol result of 225. I was frustrated because there was no help for all the other values.After taking this company's Curcumin and CoQ10 capsules 2x per day with 500mg Flaxseed, 500mg Fish Oil , and the same low dose (20mg) statin over the past three months, my results are now:Cholesterol 126Triglycerides 163LDL 52VLDL 62HDL 40I got roughly these same numbers 3x on different days from different laboratories.

I'm 55 yo , I suffer from pain 24/7 to the point that most weekends I barely get off the sofa because it hurts to even walk , I still work but between the arthritis, carpal tunnel , lifelong back issues , a torn rotator cuff , and just general worn out body I've been miserable for years , I used to go through aleve and tylenol like it was candy every day ,I have tried pretty much every prescription painkiller made with no real help. my wife bought this for me to try and the first day I felt better , after a few weeks I feel 20-30 years younger , I no longer limp when I walk , I sleep through the night and get up in the morning feeling great , I used to wake continuously through the night tossing and turning because I hurt so bad , I can drink a coffee again without using both hands , I don't know about anyone elses results from this but for me it's a complete life changer .

Marketing hype. These are not worth the money at all. They aren’t high strength as they only contain 200mg of curcumin. They also don’t contain black pepper. All hype. Annoyed that I bought them when you can get much more effective ones for similar prices. Sick of companies depending on hype over truth for their sales.

Overpriced. Can buy cheaper elsewhere. Also we received an out of date item.
