I didn't use this for flavor, but rather as a laser project material.Hickory is an amazing wood to use when finishing a lasered project. Sanding can give a very smooth finish that is far better than other hardwoods. These panels are perfect for small signs and give great results.

I bought these just for adding smoke to my cocktails. I use a kitchen torch on a single spot until it ignites and then invert the glass over it to catch the smoke to *great* effect. Takes an Old Fashioned off the planet.

I bought these for a craft project-a tray whose bottom needed some shoring up- and I wanted the wooden plank look. These worked perfectly. I cut them to size, used construction adhesive and clamps to attach them to the inside base of a decorative tray that I wanted to be a functional tea tray. I gave them a wash of dark brown paint to darken them a bit without covering the wood grain and now my cheap discount store tray is sturdy enough to hold a ceramic tea pot, a jar of sugar, a jar of tea and a couple of tea balls with no problem whereas before I was sure it would collapse from the tea pot alone. I don't know how they work for grilling but they worked great for my purpose.
