It does foam a bit. They sell an additive to help with that.I used it without the anti form or heavy stain additives and it worked well enough. Reduced the fumes and took off the mineral and copper stains. One thing I learned was to make sure the mix flowed directly to all surfaces. immediate chemical reaction seemed to be the most effective. Scrubbing actually seemed to make it less effective. A re-application of fresh mix after a water rinse was far more effective than scrubbing. I will definitely buy again for the next acid wash.

It thickened the acid/water mix great and really kept the acid fumes to a minimum, In my case I didn’t notice any fumes at all.

This product is great. It takes the sting out of the acid wash and the acid can stay longer on the walls saving you money in the long run even if the product is expensive. The acid is less aggressive to your skin and you hardly can smell the acid fumes. The product description says scrubbing is optional while my tests showed that scrubbing will help a big deal and save you money. So do it. But here comes the problem. There is a brightener in the product that acts like paint and sticks to the walls. This covers up a lot of existing stains and makes the pool look totally bright white. The problem is, that after you fill the pool, and especially after some weeks, the "paint" wears off and the stains can be seen again. Now for a contractor this is a magic product because the pool owner will think the acid wash made the pool look better than new. But for the pool owner, there is a problem. You want to see those stains so that you can perform spot treatment before filling the pool again. So once you think you are finished, make sure to wetten the pool walls once again and look out for stains or spots that require spot treatment and do not trust the bright white appearance of the pool once dry. This product is really great in taking the sting out of acid wash, and everyone should use this or a similar product at better price, but make sure to do a final check for remaining problem areas before filling the pool.
