Q: are these cake pans or do they have sloped sides like a pie pan ??

The walls are slightly slanted, not like a pie pan though. The top diameter is 9". The bottom diameter is 8 5/16. So, if you are expecting straight sides (as I did - based on a previous response) you will be disappointed. There is another posting of a different pan where both the upper and bottom of the pan measures 9" if that is what you are looking for (pack of 4).

They're lightweight so I think they're aluminum and not stainless steel

Q: Are the sliders removable for easy cleaning?

No. The sliders are permanently mounted on the pans and not removable. However, the pans are easily cleaned by dishwasher or hand. Unlike other baking pans, very little left over food product remains. These are a joy to use. My Mother used them and gave some to me as a Wedding present 36 years ago. Mine finally wore out about 4 years ago. After searching for them, I finally found these to my delight.
