As has been mentioned in other reviews, you must hook up the USB cables for this switch to work. That's how it gets power. Included cables (HDMI and USB) are too short unless you have both PCs right next to the monitor they will share. Fortunately, I had some longer USB A/B cables I could use.The HDMI cables are junk. One failed after a week or so and the other is sometimes showing video and often not. I ordered some good quality cables to replace the ones included with the switch.So far, after about 3 weeks of use, the switch is working well. I have a wireless keyboard and mouse and they switch as well as the monitor. The only problem is the mouse movement is sometimes jerky and occasionally the cursor disappears all together. I put a USB extender on the Logitech wireless dongle so it was closer to the keyboard/mouse and that seems to have helped for now.The bottom line is the switch works well for me but I needed to replace all the included cables for one reason or another.Image quality is good but I am only driving 1920x1200 @ 60 Hz through the switch.UPDATE: After three weeks, the unit no longer passes video. Video direct from PC to monitor is fine so there is no issue with GPU, main HDMI cable or monitor. I have returned the unit to Amazon as defective.

Nice little switch at first, then after about a week it started to generate lower resolutions than what was necessary. Windows wouldn't even show 2560 x 1444 (or whatever) as an option, all you would get was 1024 x 768. Then "Out of Range" error blocks kept posting, this on both sides of the switch. Amazon and the seller very good about issuing a replacement, so no issues there.

I was so close to return the product as the PC1 / PC2 blue light would not light up after adding 2 HDMI IN & 1 HDMI OUT to 36” Monitor! I was bit frustrated but then thinking logically on how this unit is not getting enough power thru HDMI so thought of adding 2 USB on the back (next to HDMI PORTS) to each source (Laptop & PC in my case). After hooking up USB - I saw and tested that PC1 & PC2 both lights up and works flawlessly. Great product and would recommend to anyone in need.REQUEST TO SELLER: PLEASE UPDATE INSTRUCTION IN DESCRIPTION OR MANUAL THAT IT IS “MUST” TO HOOK UP BOTH HDMI & USB (Provided in the Box) TO YOUR SOURCE.

It was easy to connect both monitors to 2 computer; however , The second monitor screen does not completely fill the monitor. It kind of feels 75% of the screen. I contacted Bestbuy to have them troubleshoot they couldn’t figure out why it was doing that. When the monitor is plugged up by itself it works as specified but when it’s connected to the unit the screen moves a little to the right and does not feel at the screen. All in all it’s a great buy.

It's really fussy. HDMI or the HDMI cable is fussy. Gotta wiggle it in order to make a connection. My USB 3.0 external drive does not connect via the front USB port. Seems the device is not powerful enough to power the external drive. Maybe a KVM switch with onboard 5.0v power would work. Kinda disappointed.

The user manual is a joke, which resulted in my return of 1st shipment. I hooked the HDMI cable to test that thing, but nothing happened, not even the indicator light. The replacement came a day later(Thanks to Amazon's quick delivery) and again the same result. Frustrated as was, I tried to hook up the usb cable. The light was on now, and the little thing is working even with HDMI monitor!So far so good.Make sure you do the same ---with USB cable connection first.Hope that helps the new users.

Installed for a client that switches between her laptop and a mini tower depending on her work. Pretty straight forward setup, plug and play. Both PCs recognize the hardware change within a second or two. Simple enough for the client to not call me because she forgot how to use it. I'd use it again if another client needed one.

My first unit received had a stuck "switch" button so I could not toggle between computers.My second unit received successfully switched the USB devices between 2 computers but the HDMI did not propagate to my monitor. I tested it with 2 HP monitors. In both cases they "went to sleep" and no image shown regardless of which computer was selected by the KVM.I don't doubt this works for other people but, in my case, it did not work for my monitors. Bummer. The USB switching worked well anyways and I liked the look and feel of the product.
