How To Beat The Bully Without Really Trying.
This book is, in my opinion, really good. I like how clever all of the scenes are as the main character just manages not to get himself killed or injured in every way imaginable, to keep his popularity up and not let anyone know about the character that he really is. Then the writer manages to mix in lots of funny scenes as well! It's good to find a book you really like once in a while, and this is a book that I like. I would strongly recommend it to all ages. It's similar to "The Karate Kid" in the sense that there is a bully that is very strong and that slowly, the main character becomes more confident towards the end of the book, but the comparison stops there."The Karate Kid" really isn't funny.

Awesome book- 5th grade students loved it as a read aloud
I read this aloud to my fifth grade students. They LOVED this book. They begged me to read on days I wasn't planning on reading aloud. I really enjoyed the book myself. I had a planning period the period after I would read the book aloud- I spent a few planning periods reading ahead in the book. I was interested and wanted to know what was happening. Great read aloud. I bought other books in the series- I will read them this summer!

Good read for young adults
Great read for teens and young adults. If you grew up in a small town you will relate. This would make a good book club read.

Hitting a Hard To Reach Audience
Targeting a hard to reach audience, Starkey has created a book filled with attainable characters and humor. Among a library filled to the brim with science fiction and action, "How to Beat the Bully" has provided a much needed alternative writing realistic fiction for 5th-7th grade boys. "How to Beat the Bully", provides a fun-lovingly, appropriate, and stylistic venue. Reading should be enjoyable and a life long journey. This book will switch on the reading light for a lot of our reluctant readers. Well done and a must have for your classroom library!
