Empowerment
You know the feeling when you are unmotivated, thinking you don't have anything to read (that's a lie lol) an aren't motivated to pick up a full length novel? I went through the same feeling and I was so not in the mood to continue reading the books I am already reading when I realized that I had started this one ages ago and had forgotten about it. And I am SO GLAD I finally picked it up because oh my, this was I wanted to read!!!You can say the whole book is divided into three parts, each one portraying a journey for every person out there who has been put down in life. I am not kidding when I say the prose was so effing good, I could feel the goofy smile on my face. Amanda breaks down the stereotypes and the 'competitiveness' that women are said to have against one another along with breaking down double standards that we see ourselves surrounded in. And more than that it spoke high volumes about loving oneself, about taking one's care without a care in the world because no, it is not a selfish act indeed. And apart from that it was about learning to respect yourself because you deserve as much respect as love from yourself! There are soo many lines I want to quote but at the same time I don't want to give everything away from this book (The struggle is real, trust me). But here's a small and absolutely lovely piece:'you say lonely.i say self-sufficient .i say content dating myself- your local spinster 'I loved this collection so freaking much! There's a possibility that many people wouldn't get too much out of it and there's a possibility that others would get so much out of it and I recommend everyone to read this because it contains a very good bunch of poems on empowerment that you couldn't get tired of reading! And did I mention that the author compiled a list of TW in starting? I really love when authors do that!!!! :)))Trigger Warnings: child abuse, toxic relationships, sexual assault, eating disorders, mental illness, self-harm, sexism, suicide, trauma...

good if you're not looking for serious "poetry"
um, how do I go about explaining I liked something and didn’t at the same time?I flew through the pages not because the book was engrossing but because it contained like a maximum of 10 words per page. I wouldn’t really call it “poetry”. It was more like a book of uplifting quotes and advice. There were quite a lot of “poems” which I’m so used to seeing daily on Tumblr and Pinterest, it hardly left any imprint on my mind. However, there were some pieces that broke through me. That’s the beauty of the words, I guess. No matter how redundant they are, whenever they decide to bless you through their prowess, you can’t help but be stunned and awed.In simple words, I liked the idea of this book. I haven’t read the first part of it, but I’m considering reaching out for it. Even if it’s just for that boost of “you da baddest bi*ch, own it”. I’m also very, very close to shoving this book in my little sister’s hands Who. Won’t. Just. Read. Anything. It's such a simple little book that I believe would be a perfect start for someone who isn’t looking for anything heavy or is just a beginner. It wasn’t exactly what I was looking for but, it wasn’t a complete disappointment either.ps. that cover.....why...Thanks to NetGalley and the Publishers for this eARC in exchange for an honest review!

Dark Feminine
This poetry is magical. It is what I needed to hear to sooth my aching heart. Unfortunately I don't have any female role models who understand my situation, but Amanda certainly does. I LOVE her work.

I… i did not realize i would finish reading this so fast. Every word was magical. I probably highlighted most of the book. What a collection of amazing, vulnerable writings. 10/10 would recommend to everyone.

another wonderful book
Like all Amanda Lovelace books, incredibly empowering for women. This time the fairy tales are in the form of a big sister giving positive advice to a little sister.
