Surgically Awesome
This is a work of art as well as a fantastic tool. This knife screams quality in every way and is better than anything else at the same priceit was very well packaged and anyone would be impressed with the way the knife is boxed so the presentation of this knife is first class, first impressions - amazing! The thing I love about Solna knife is it instantly feel wonderful in the hand; extremely ergonomic for me, you literally feel at one with the knife. It has a wonderful balance between the blade and the handle,The blade is razor sharp, The blade is made from high carbon stainless steel which has been subjected to some impressive sounding processes resulting in a range of some of the best kitchen knives you could wish to find. For general cutting it copes easily and cleanly with just about anything you can think of, and is designed so that different parts of the blade are more effective than others for different tasks – the tip for precise cutting tasks, the middle section for general cutting, and the heel end when more pressure needs to be applied. The wide blade also makes it very suitable and effective for flattening and shaping cuts of meat. This is a first class knife and is way beyond what I could have expected – 5 Stars!I personally highly recommend this chef knife.

long and lean, a cooking man's dream, she turns every head in town. (George Jones)
Impressed, the blade is heavy like I wanted to speed hard difficult tasks. It does this well and holds its fine edge very well. The balance is such that shifting gears to fine cutting is finer than I could have imagined. One note , if you are used to an eight inch and tend to be quick and speedy, slow down till you get used to where the point is on this one or there will be blood. The ergonomics and performance of this blade reinforce the appearance and elegance of this beauty. I do like this one.this added two weeks later-- The more I get used to it the more it reinforces above. The sapphire polishing slab on the Lansky system touches up blade and provides a mirror polish in a few strokes. A head of cabbage in the wok, winter squash, just watch out for the elbows. This edge reduces need for hand strength for us old timersI'm getting old and loosing hand strength. This edge reduces effort and time, relieving some of the problems with tired weak hands.

Knife looks great. Factory sharpening is good
Knife looks great. Factory sharpening is good, but not as good as I have sharpened my other knifes. The wood case finish was not uniform and the handle had a cosmetic defect, but for the price and the fact I am using it to cut not to look at I am happy.

Not Damascus, Not Professional
When I bought this knife, Solna was offering a "100% satisfaction, not questions asked return policy" so I figured why not give it a try.Upon receiving the knife, its quickly clear that it is not Damascus steel. In fact, its not even good quality steel. The knife is good for cutting things like an onion, but isn't sharp enough for good cuts on a tomato. Nor is it heavy enough to cut something like butternut squash. Likewise, it does ok with chicken breast, but it has a hard time cutting through beef. You'd be better off sticking with known companies such as Shun, Wusthof, or Henckels. So, if they had a "100% satisfaction, not questions asked return policy" why do I still have the knife? Well, because they wouldn't stand behind their product or live up to their guarantee and wouldn't allow me to return the knife. They also got rid of that policy which further demonstrates that they're not willing to stand behind their product. So, if you want an overpriced, poor chef's knife that looks cool, then this is the knife for you. If you want a real chef's knife, look elsewhere.

Love the extra length, well-balanced, gorgeous, and cuts like a hot knife through butter!
OMG I love this knife! I've wanted a Damascus knife for a long time and I got this as a lightening deal and am super happy with it. It cut through 3 week old large potatoes like they were room temp. butter! I clean it after every use, dry it completely and then back in the box it goes! This is now my favorite knife, and I've got a lot of knives! The box is good but the printing on the box was not solid so I wouldnt have felt as great giving this as a gift, but the knife is all you need to be worried about. I think anyone would love this as a gift! The extra inch on the blade is surprisingly useful when rocking/chopping veggies or herbs. I'm glad I sprung for this. Even at the deal of $70 it's a lot for me and others but treat yourself!

Great Knife, Fits My Needs.
I have a 10 inch western style chef. I use it for heavy cutting, and dicing. I also have a petty knife, but was looking for a longer blade than six inches, but not as big as my chef. I ran acros the Solna knife while searching. It fits my needs. I only use a teak cutting board. i do have a separate meat board. I hone my blades before, and after each use. When needed I will sharpen a knife. So far this knife has met my expectations for a good chef knife. You need different kinds for different jobs. I would never use this knife to bone with. This is a Japanese blade. It is thinner. With proper use, and care, it should last a long time.

I love this knife
I have been inn the food industry for nearly 30 years, I am continuously buying knives, this is my second chef knife this year. I have tries many of the other brands, some from obscure sources as well as the top leaders such as Forschner, Henkel, Wustoff, just to name a few. I must say, I love this knife..the weight is hefty but not overly heavy, the handle is very comfortable and the blade is most excellent. And on top of all that it comes ina beautiful wood box, by far my most favorite knife to date.....
