I really struggle with putting supporting wire up for climbing plants. These were so easy to use and get a good, tight support in place. I thought they were a bit expensive but will be worth it if they last well!

One thing is for sure; these tensioners and the plastic cable system they are part of are better than rusty wires! I use the cables to support my grape vines and raspberry canes but they would also work well to support roses etc., against a wall. You may find the tensioners difficult to master at first but they are simple enough when you get used to them. Make sure you measure the cable carefully though as you can waste a tensioner as well as a length of cable!

We have used these for years and they seem very sturdy and none have broken in 10 years. The only downside is they are pricey so if you have many climbing plants then it is a real cost.

Truly the best wire tensioning system available. You can have this installed in minutes, no sharp galvanised wires and no twisty tensioners. Fantastic idea.

I couldn’t more highly recommend the Gripple system of wiring for plants. It’s so much easier and looks so much better than the old fashioned wiring techniques that I expect everyone will swap to this in time.
