Good but could have been better without the cliches
A bit predictable and cliched, otherwise good. A shame to muck up a good story and a great cast with plot lines that are farfetched, as in for example the risky behavior between jed and jonathan-- not very believable in light of the danger. Also, Angela would simply have taking photos of the papers in the safe rather than risk taking them and having Roper discover their absence which he obviously did; And returning them to Jed to put back in the safe is ridiculous and clearly done simply to set up additional plotlines. disappointing to spot these rookie errors in script writing, character development, and production When it could have been so much better and should have been. No excuse for such errors that even a non-intelligence agent can spot.

The plot thickens quickly, and we couldn't stop until the end!
This short 2016 series starring Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston is excellent entertainment! Each episode featured various exotic locales as a backdrop to the tense, mounting action. Episode Two, set in Mallorca, Spain, was my favorite, with breathtaking views of the island and surrounding Mediterranean Sea. I love shows like this because I can live vicariously through the actors, lol; at my age, it’s highly doubtful I’ll ever travel to most of these captivating countries! Anyway, this makes for exciting viewing with no shortage of surprises along the way! I can't recommend this show highly enough, and I hope you all enjoy it as much as we did!

John le Carre's excellent story telling at his finest
A finely scripted story with all around great acting. If you like spy thrillers, there are few better at crafting a tale the Le Carre

Every role a goldmine
The roles the actors took on in this series were challenging and easily fluffed. But that did not happen. There is something sinister to Hugh Lurie and something beneficent about Tom Hiddleston. What if they had swapped roles? Could Tom have played the snake and could Hugh have played the knight? Now, that would have been something. It didn't happen that way. The casting was just about perfect. In fact, the entire story was just about perfect.

A "Spoiler-Free" Night Manager Review
The Night ManagerA “spoiler-free” review.I have watched this 6-part series based on the John Le Carré novel of the same name, quite a few times. I had also read the book before seeing it. For those who care about such things — there are, indeed differences/changes from page to screen — as there should be. I recall, well before I even knew about this latest adaptation, watching an interview with Le Carré in which he said he felt the strongest/best filmed versions of his work were ones that were willing to operate on their own terms — to make the move from the written word to the cinematic world. In the case of The Night Manager, the author has been effusive in expressing his praise for and satisfaction with the BBC/AMC production. That his sons, Simon and Stephen Cornwell were among the executive producers would seem to strengthen the connection between the creator of the story and the creative team bringing it to life.Le Carré’s works are detailed, layered and deeply psychological — giving the story 6 full hours to unfold was warranted and wise. Like all films — or television series (this one feels more like a lengthy film, if one did not watch on AMC and suffer through the commercial breaks — there is a reason they are called breaks….) enjoyment is directly tied to the viewer’s expectations and taste. I loved the book, but completely accepted the changes: the shifts in time and place, the altered ending — the fates of the characters.I did miss a few of the backstory details from the novel that spoke to Pine’s behavior and motivations, in particular and there were passages that, despite the extended time allowance still seem truncated. But the shortcomings were offset by the terrific performances, sure-handed direction and strong script (by David Farr.)I loved that Susanne Bier directed this with Tom Hiddleston in the title role. I say this because The Night Manager is the third collaboration between Hiddleston and a female director in a work with strong martial content and the results have each time been extraordinary. (Henry V for The Hollow Crown series on BBC with Thea Sharrock and Coriolanus on stage under the direction of Josie Rourke are the others. ) Jonathan Pine has to be one of the more deceptively difficult roles — a great deal of screen time but comparatively little dialogue, few of the witty lines, or the emotionally rich ones and yet he needs to capture and hold our attention. For me he succeeds, giving a restrained, nuanced and deeply effective/affecting performance. The entire cast was uniformly excellent — from the lead actors, Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie, Olivia Colman, Elizabeth Debicki, Tom Hollander — to the smaller, supporting ones. (Have a look at the cast list on IMDb: [...] …. so many terrific actors doing terrific work in this series.) The settings and camera work — glorious. Were there some things that stretched credulity? Yes, there were. Leaps of faith were required upon occasion. At the end of the day — or rather the series — those stretches and those leaps were rather easy to make and the payoff was big enjoyment and some serious food for thought, as well.To my mind, definitely worth 6 hours of your time.*****

Fantastic Series
The only thing lacking was commentary, nothing extra at all apart from a few extended scenes, and I'm one of those weird folk who loves the commentary. The acting, the writing, the sets, and the scenes were all wonderful. It was a beautifully produced and directed series.Laurie was delightfully wicked and human at the same time. Coleman the ultimate Burr. Hiddleston played Pine to perfection. In fact, the casting was spot on, all the way.Oh! There was more that was missing from the series, the second and third (etc.,) seasons.

I bought this as an uncensored version, but didn't notice anything different from the version I originally watched on UK TV? However quality very good and watchable.

A wonderful series and much better as a continuous film than a series - you need to set aside 6 hours but I watched it in two three hour sessions. Highly recommended.

Excelente serie
