He is the natural follower in this great tradition of our culture, of names such as Panofsky or Gombrich, no matter their differences. This book, coming from someone who wrote decisive oeuvres such as The true image or The invisible masterpiece, and who, on the other hand, moves so brightly from medieval art to Renaissance and to modern times, is a great achievement that every one who 's interested in these field of thought should know.A great book by a great author.Thank you Mr. Belting!!!

An excellent book for anyone interested in learning about the many different and often disparate aspects of contemporary art. Excellent writing and organization to the book itself. Established and progressive scholars cover essential aspects of major currents, impulses, and conditions of contemporary art- not just one side of each argument or theme, but a diverse, critical, thorough approach to the polyhedral contemporary art system.

Great catalog and text. Thorough and very readable.
