From the area of Castagneto Carducci – in Bolgheri, Tuscany, Fonte di Foiano's blend is composed of Frantoio, Moriaolo, and Leccino olives, harvested in November. After filtering, the exquisite oil is clear. The Grand Cru Selection is produced with the best varieties of the olive-grove, hand picked in very early harvest. Intensely herbaceous and fruity, with notes of green tomato and artichoke. Intensely hot and bitter. Best for raw use--as a finishing oil. Recent years' bottling of Fonte di Foiano's olive oils have been recognized by Slow Food, Bibenda L'olio, Los Angeles; Der Feinshmecker: Grand Cru, Moriaolo and Pendolino, Top 250 of the World. Additionally, the Fonte di Foiano has garnered awards and recognition from Flos Olei and Gino Celletti.
