Would I recommend this product? Yes I would.
When considering the various products in this space, I found very little information or reviews on this product, so I thought I would provide my view after a week or so of using the product for the benefit of others interested. Quite lengthy but I’ve included the points I wanted to know.Buying experience:Coming from China, the lights took a while to arrive (just over 2 weeks). The wrong item was initially sent but the seller sorted it out and dispatched the correct item as soon as I informed them.Cost:For many people, £300 (set of 6) is not a small amount to pay for this type of exercise equipment but it is competitively priced compared to similar systems, and considerably cheaper than the 6 light system from BlazePod, which I also considered. In this review I will also make some comparisons between the two systems.Build quality:The product itself is impressively robust as the lights are designed to be activated not only by proximity (which I prefer) but by physical contact. They can withstand being stood on by kids and adults alike. Myself, my wife and my two kids have all used them and so far no issues/damage. It’s great that the lights can be activated by both methods as I have seen other products that can only be activated by touch.Versatility:They are easy to use in different set ups, on the ground or table top, or attached to slalom poles for exercises at different heights (using the included velcro mounts). They can also be mounted using the integrated magnets in the back plate, although I found the magnets to be quite weak. I have read the mounts for BlazePods are very weak (and cost extra) and do not hold their lights in place which severely limits the variety of exercises. Videos of the BlazePods also suggest you cannot use the lights without the mini stands and, in combination with touch only activation, also show the BlazePods often flip over when used on softer surfaces like grass or astroturf or even gym mats. Having to flip them back over, mid-routine, is not ideal.Set up:Set up is straight forward - charge each using the included cables, turn each light on, choose routine from smartphone app, wait for connection (approx 10-15 secs in total). I found the reliability and responsiveness of the Bluetooth connection to be pretty solid, though occasionally one of the lights would drop connection mid routine. Battery life also seems to be good, we’ve used them quite regularly over the week and a half since initial charge and have not had to recharge them yet.Smart device app:The app is not as slick as some I’ve seen but is responsive and well thought out. So far I have not found myself being frustrated by poor layout, poor user experience, or by a lack of settings/options. Stats can be saved per player but only to local device. My only criticism is that there are no instructions whatsoever for the app - I had to try each routine out one by one via trial and error to understand what to do and also try each setting within each routine to figure out their purpose. The developers really should have included a help guide as some users may not have the patience, which will limit its appeal and also what they get out of the system.Routines:The routines themselves are quite good, both from a workout and from an entertainment perspective. Brain function and hand eye coordination exercises are catered for as are cardio. Some are simply a slight variation of another but I found enough variation for our family (age 8 to 51) and I can see the benefit for the elderly or those in rehabilitation. One exercise even includes audio based tasks. I would also say that 6 lights is about right, the routines would be too simple with only 4 lights.Closing thoughts:So my impression so far is good, though quite expensive, they’re fun, give you a decent workout, seem well built & reliable and the app is actually well thought out once you get past the initial confusion.Would I recommend them? Yes I would.
