Yes, thread color is easily identified. The photo is 100% accurate.

This New Brothread product is pre-cut pieces. They are great for various thread sizes. I also cut them into smaller pieces to work on smaller spools of thread, too. The quality of these is outstanding and the netting holds its shape well, even after being used and taken on and off the thread spools (I only use them to help with thread storage and to reduce threads unraveling). The other product you mentioned is made by a different seller -- no idea on their quality -- and is one long piece as opposed to smaller and much easier to work with pieces that are sold by New Brothread (this product). I'd recommend this product!!

Q: These precut thread nets are too long for my 500M mini spools, can I cut?

For our precut packages, each piece of thread net is 25cm(9.8"). You can cut it into 4 small pieces to fit your mini 500m spools. Or if you buy the 20yd long thread net, you can cut a certain length to fit your mini spool exactly.

Q: has anyone used this on bobbins?

Yes, and I actually found bobbins pretty wound, and have wound my own bobbins from the spools, works great!@@
