Fun adventure
I really enjoyed this book. The mystery and adventure were a blast. I bought this for our home library and decided to read it before sharing with younger members of the family.*****NOTE: As a parent I would not hand this over to just any child to read on their own. The main protagonist has a lot of qualities that I really do not want to promote to children. Even before the mystery really begins there is a lot of direct disobedience, lying about his activities and putting himself in life threatening situations. The mystery seems to be an excuse to continue this path. While the protagonist occasionally shows remorse, it's very much a "only kids can save the day and parents should be left in the dark" kind of book. This would be a great read aloud where you can discuss the children's unsafe actions, or for a youth that already has that discernment.

A Hit!
I had to STOP my daughter from devouring this book in a DAY!She is completely enamoured with "Secret Keepers," its story and characters! It's been less than a month since I gave it to her, and she's already read it a second time! This is a roughly 500-page book.I deeply appreciate what this author produces for children/adolescents-- heck!, adults too! :)Buy it! You will not be disappointed.

Fantastic Book!
I read the entire Mysterious Benedict Society books with my now 12 year old son. I would put his series of books on par with Harry Potter or any other celebrated book series out there, they’re that good. This review isn’t about the Mysterious Benedict Society however....Truthfully, we are only half way through The Secret Keepers now, but I was compelled to write a review as my son and I already know it’s a winner. The only criticism I could offer, and it’s a minor one, is that it starts off kind of slow, but ultimately kicks into gear and doesn’t look back.I highly recommend any book authored by Trenton Lee Stewart, and eagerly await his next book release. In the meantime, we are thoroughly enjoying The Secret Keepers, and highly recommend it to anyone and everyone!

A Good Family Book - Not Quite Benedict Society However
I, as well as my family, are big Trenton Lee Stewart fans. We have read The Mysterious Benedict Society books several time over and they are great family reading. In The Secretkeepers Stewart follows along on a similar path of mysterious objects and wonderful adventures taken on by smart, but perhaps, oddball children. We were very excited to get this book and immediately from the get go we were drawn to the lead character of Rueben, who like many of the Benedict Society kids, is a loner and a bit of an odd-sock. And while we enjoyed the start of the book the middle and the endings just seemed plain when compared to the Benedict Society books. The villain of this story never quite gets going and just doesn't ever come off as this "mastermind" that the beginning of the book builds you up to believe. The supporting characters, for the most part, are just average. I say this with a bit of sadness because I believe that Mr. Stewart had laid the ground work for a fantastically amazing family (the secret keepers), with a deep and mysterious history that by themselves would have maid a great series of stories for kids and families. However, in my honest opinion, they just fell short of getting there. Is this a good book - Yes, we enjoyed it. Is it a Benedict Society caliber book - I'm afraid my answer has to be "not quite" and maybe that's not fair to Mr. Stewart to compare one series against another - but, in truth, THAT is the reason we bought the book in the first place.

A great read
Lovely! I already liked Trenton Lee Stewart from his other work, The Mysterious Benedict Society (a trilogy with a companion volume) so I was thrilled he published this one. He didn't fail! His books are full of great values and totally family appropriate. The characters are dynamic and relatable, the plot is fun and suspenseful, and as always, he enjoys testing the protagonist with tricks and tests to solve. It's a great feel-good read.Note: This book is slightly more kid-level than The Mysterious Benedict Society. As an adult, I enjoy reading TMBS over and over. This book is enjoyable and heartwarming, but a bit less engaging for adults. When I want entertainment, I'll probably go back to TMBS. Still, I'm happy I bought this one - for myself and my kid sister - and I'm sure I'll go back to it soon

Definitely not up to the standards of the author's other books
If you loved The Mysterious Benedict Society series, you are likely to grab this thinking you'll get more of the same. Unfortunately it's a bit disappointing. The main character, Reuben, never really emerges as a likable or interesting character. He's not bad, he's just not terribly engaging. The "secret" of the watch (I won't reveal it) isn't that exciting. The problem involved in that secret -- why the "bad guy" wants it so much -- seems contrived, as is the mechanism of revealing it to us through a letter left by another character's ancestor. That doesn't really come across as our hero (or any other living character in the story) working out the mystery or discovering the solution on his own. The character of Jack was so confusing that I honestly expected him to turn out to be working for the bad guy - it would have at least made a plot twist. (Spoiler: he isn't.) And while much seems to be made of the lighthouse (including the cover), that has very little to do with the story. By halfway through, I found myself skimming just to get on with things; by that time I figured I'd invested too much time to put the book down altogether, but I was definitely ready for it to end.

Great Story for the whole Family
All of my four children (16, 14, 10, 8) enjoyed listening to me read this story to them. The surprises kept them asking for more. I recommend buying this book and reading it to someone young or old.

All in.
Another Trenton Lee Stewart book that pulls the reader in and compels them to stay. This intriguing story spans generations and makes you root for all of the main characters. Invisibility is brought into the story quite early - and all of a sudden you're right back to your own childhood dreams and imaginations - at the edge of your seat and ready to share more than just the book with any children in your life. Even after having already read it - purchasing was a must - just as re-reading will be.

Ok but not the best book
Really enchanting but goes on a little and has an odd backround .Looking back to when you first read it you think "mah, it was ok but have read better books ". For instance ,the rest of his books are amazing (they are a series)but I found this one slightly off course and different . Has a good plot and is worth reading .
