I find that its almost instant. The temp slowly rises as much as 10F higher when measuring meat temps. It works a little better in liquid. For meats, I look at the immediate temp and gauge that the actual temp is at least 5F higher so as to not overcook on medium and medium rare steaks.

Stopped working... Won't turn on and yes I changed the batteries.

pretty disapointing. the instant read instantly rereads constantly so you get an "aproximate" temperature when you stick it in a steak. Fun to have it speak the temperature of your cocktail. works fine on even temperature stuff. there must be better ones. Don't bother with this one.

Screen sometimes acts weird but you just have to put a little pressure on it with your finger and it comes back. The backlight feature is great as well

I needed a thermometer that would measure temps high enough for me to make my grandma's famous fudge. This is perfect. I don't use the talking feature really. But it's a great thermometer, at an awesome price, and it gets the job done.

It's large and it didn't come with batteries, once I finally got the batteries, it is SLOW! The probe starts out thin and then increases to twice the thickness so that it breaks my fish fillets when I try to temp them.

Easy to use and accurate. The voice telling you the temp. Is a plus because you no longer need to have the face of the thermometer facing you.
