My old workhorse Heine otoscope finally gave up the ghost after many years of faithful service so I needed to get another fairly quickly, and at a price I could afford. I spent days looking at different options, reading reviews, working out what to get, and eventually settled on this model.It arrived quickly, looks the part (I went for the blue one) and fitted all my Heine specula which was a major plus from my perspective.To start with it was great, nice light, on/off button doesn't slip so it doesn't accidentally switch on whilst moving around in my bag. I was a very happy bunny.Two weeks further on, and given that I don't use it every day, I was disappointed when the light didn't come on when I switched it on. I jiggled the head a bit and it lit up. And switched off pretty much immediately. Jiggle, jiggle, and it switched on and I was able to use it.But since that point it has been very much the same story every time I try to use it. It's not great when you are out and about and not knowing whether you'll be able to do your job or not. It might look the part but just doesn't cut the mustard.If the return window hadn't closed already, it would be back in the post as fast as I could have put it back in its box.Can I recommend the product - NO. Absolutely not.

As a District Nurse I wanted my own Otoscope rather than having to share an ear irrigation kit bag, I wanted the ability to inspect ears if it popped up on a general visit. This is perfect for that. Quality is good, I liked that I could pick a colour, I chose purple, it doesn't look as professional as say black (in hindsight I should have known as I always tend to pick purple for these things) it's because of the plastic, but that's my issue.My colleagues were all impressed when I produced this in the office and they all wanted ear examinations and to test it out! Comes just as pictured, lovely hard case, the tips are all different sizes.The only thing is I haven't figured out et is which tips to order to go with it ( perhaps that could be a suggestion to the seller to identify these) BUT the ones that are ordered through our supplies for the trust owned Otoscopes fit (bonus). I have removed the tips supplied with it to use for my personal use as it was a shame to use them in practice once and throw them! And I have replaced them with the ones through suppliers. All in all a good purchase and I would purchase again.This review is a little while later as I am one of those people who like to use something for a while in order to review it properly but I don't recall delivery being delayed or having to wait a long time for it.

Couldn't open case to start.then not impressed with contence

My daughter suffers from bad ears and the doctors tell you there is nothing there it will all be ok. Now we can see in her ears and actually know if there is something wrong and can tell them

Good whilst it worked. After 8 weeks the light source started to flicker on certain positions and became rely unreliable. Such a shame as Good value for money and seems well built!

Have used on our toddler over last 6 months as she’s had the odd ear infection. With Covid, difficult to get a dr appointment so gave us peace of mind while waiting to be seen by the dr. Magnification is good and lens is clear. Our toddler also likes to check daddy’s and mammy’s ears too!
