Found a new fun media today - gel crayons! They are somewhat blendable and the colors are very vibrant! They do smear if pushed hard with hands (green leaf). You can highlight them with paint pens (orange). And the darker colors need a very light tough (purple) when blending. I did all these leaves in under 5 minutes, so they are messy. They don't really "dry" per say so I'd recommend putting blank sheets of paper between coloring pages. I mostly got them for background filler.But the color glides on like lipstick and gives me happy ASMR vibes 🥰 also great for kiddos too!They are super soft and have a great performance after some practice.

Super indeed! Absolutely great tools to make art fun and accessible for my 2yo and 4yo. Easy and smooth to draw with little pressure. Traditional-type crayons are too hard for my 2yo since more pressure is needed to make a colored line and she ends up just ripping the paper. These colors are bright, heavily-pigmented and wide. They're great for my 4yo to make big drawings and color in large spaces without getting frustrated by wimpy lines. I love using them too. Obviously, not great for detailed drawing but allows me to make big lines and the kids can see what I'm doing easily (my kids love to watch me draw something simple and then try to do it themselves). Many of the colors are similar, which makes sharing easier. But still large enough of a variety of colors that we can let imaginations run wild. The color does wash completely out of clothes, sheets, carpets, etc (sometimes with some stain treatment and elbow grease, but it comes out). The case is easy for little hands to use and handy to keep them together. They are a little tricky to twist up, but that's OK with me because we haven't had any problems with twisting them completely out or breaking. My only wish is that the caps didn't separate from the crayons. After a month, we have a case of crayons together and caps hiding all over the house. Even still, I'd buy these again 100 times. Super, super product!

I love these gel crayons. They are very creamy and easy to apply. I use them in my coloring book. I needed something soft to color with since I have pain in my wrist. I love that it's easy to apply and even with water it doesn't bleed through the book like watercolor brushes.I apply the gel crayons three ways 1) directly to the book and use a wet brush to smooth it and drag it out, 2) I swipe the wet brush on the gel crayons and use the brush to apply it, or 3) I smear it on my porcelain dish and pick up with my water brush. These gel crayons are almost the perfect solution to what I was looking for. I needed a gel crayon with similar quality to Crayola Slick Stix but with a larger variety of colors with corresponding lights and darks, and this is the only one I could find that is sold in more than just a max of 12. Another pro is that they are skinnier than a typical gel crayon, so you can get a little more detail than the chunky ones. There's also a peach that you could use as skin if you add white to it, and I like that they come in twistable barrels to avoid mess and breakage. The only cons are: many of the lighter colors produce some grain as you color, so you have to be careful to swipe it off or blend it in. A few of the colors are very similar - the yellows, reds, and greens each have one color that is almost exactly like another one but just barely lighter in tone. The pinks are disappointing, the lighter one leaves a lot of streaks and neither one have that satisfying boldness to it. There's a lot of browns, so I wish they would have sacrificed the brick red brown for a bold magenta. They are not as glidy as the Slick Stix, however, on smooth paper they work great and blend well - whereas the Slick Stix don't budge when you try to blend. You can judge for yourself with the attached photos; I think they're fun for kids and adults and the overall quality is pretty good.

These gel crayons are very smooth and bright. Very similar consistency to Faber Castell Gelatos and can be used in similar ways. They are very smooth, great for laying down large areas of color quickly but not at all good for coloring in details or small areas. However you could use them for finer work by using a paintbrush and water.The crayons are water soluable. When you put down a layer of pigment then go over it with water you get a translucent watercolor effect. You can then add more layers to get a richer, brighter color, if desired. You can also mix the colors either by layering and brushing with water, or mixing together on a palette. Once the color has dried you can write or draw on top of it with colored pencil, wax crayons, watercolor crayons, gel pens, etc. I am finding them to be very versatile and fun to use, and love the variety of colors in this set. I would not recommend these for younger children unless very well supervised, as they are the consistency of a lipstick, as someone commented above. The color could easily find its way onto clothing, skin, walls, furniture, unlucky animals, etc. But they are great fun for older teen and adult artists and colorers.

We absolutely love this set and so does everyone we’ve shown it to! It goes on smooth, is fun to color with, a nice case. 2yo can use independently. And it is washable. What could be better. Have already given as a gift to a cousin. Will order again once we use more colors up!

These gel crayons are a hit in our home. They are easy to use, do not make a mess like oil pastels and the colors are bright and vibrant. Wonderful product for fun art projects.

Just received these in the mail today and let me tell you wow such a step up from your ordinary Crayola crayon. These blend like a dream, colors are rich and pigmented and the selection of colors is pretty damn awesome! The price isn't crazy either so it's a win-win! Move over Faber Castell gelato, ya damn near broke me lol

I was registered to take a week long mixed media workshop. When the supply list came out it called for Gelatos - but they were in short supply & I couldn’t get them. The artist doing the workshop helped us by getting 9 other similar products & testing them. The U.S. Art Supply Gels were one of the 4 products - out of the 9 she’d bought - that tested out to be good alternatives.I have enjoyed using them & learning how this product adds a lot to my finished projects. I love these gel crayons! I am an art therapist and art teacher. I tried gel crayons at a workshop and was immediately obsessed. I searched for an economical option on Amazon and these were just the ticket. They blend so well and are vibrant. Excellent selection of colors and come in a handy case. My students and clients love them! They are water soluble and clean up is easy. You have to try these!
