After 1 year of regular home use
I wanted to wait a while before posting a review so I could see how this vacuum held up over time. I'm pleased to say that after a year of regular use at home, it is doing great. In general, I find the backpack style preferable to an upright or canister, because it makes maneuvering around the house much easier than dragging an awkward canister behind me, and I am still able to reach the wand underneath and behind furniture where an upright cannot go.That being said, the Atrix itself has been great over the last year. I use it around the house, and also to clean my car. The original filter is still performing well, with no smell or other issues. It isn't particularly heavy to wear, and the straps are adjustable and comfortable enough to make it fit without any issues. The motor is plenty strong enough for home use, and I have not had any issues with this leaving anything behind.I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5 for the following reasons.* The wand and attachments friction fit to one another, rather than having a little catch spring at the end of each piece. They are easy to attach, but the pressure of pushing the head across the floor repeatedly forces the parts together so tightly that it can make removing the head and wand from the handle incredibly difficult. You have to literally force the pieces apart by twisting them.* The hose is kind of cheap, stiff plastic, and isn't quite as flexible as what you might find on a more expensive canister vacuum.* The dusting brush is very stiff, and not something I would recommend using on wood furniture. It feels more like a stiff upholstery brush. I purchased a more traditional soft-bristle brush and universal attachment kit from Amazon that works much better.* The rotating carpet brush isn't very powerful, since it is powered by the airflow rather than a dedicated motor, so it does an okay job, but not great.Obviously, none of these things are deal-breakers for me, because I do really love this vacuum, but they are worth mentioning. I purchased this model because there weren't very many choices between this and more expensive industrial models, but overall, I'm very happy with it. I would definitely buy this again.

Strong motor, small and lightweight
Ok so I've used $500 -$350 backpacks in my line of work. Nothing like a 2-stage vacuum, to really pick up everything. I don't know what stage this little guy is but ... whoa, he handles business very well. Kinda loud compared to more expensive vacuums that are more insulated around the motor. I use headphones so if your ears are sensitive I recommend using earplugs. This is About as loud as a shop vac. I bought the used open box version and the vacuum was never used but, the hose was missing the main wand attachment. I called Amazon about it instead of returning and while they didn't give me anything for FREE, they were very helpful in giving me a further discount. I paid like $13 extra dollars for a new replacement hose and basically now have a Brand new vacuum. I'm very pleased with the use I've gotten out it so far. I would recommend this vacuum for what it can do ... especially if you have large carpeted areas or stairs. It's great at the offering price. Only giving 4 stars because I've used Coachman for years and those are seriously good vacuums. But be prepared to pay up!

Great Vacuum...
Really lightweight and comfortable with powerful suction.A great choice of attachments and nice ergonomic wand.My only issue is the right side shoulder strap keeps coming undone and won't stay tight.Otherwise I'm very happy with my purchase.

OMG! This thing is simply amazing!
My new backpack vacuum just arrived and I've just cleaned house with it and it is absolutely fantastic! I just moved across the country and needed a new vacuum and was torn as to whether to get an upright or a canister. I lean toward canisters because it's easier to get under stuff and I don't ever have wall to wall carpeting. But I do have oriental rugs and canisters usually either have very poor carpet attachments, no carpet attachments, or ones that are so clunky and difficult to use with elaborate wiring systems going up the wand etc. that they end up breaking down early on.So I was surfing through all the Amazon vacuums trying to decide what to do, when I came across backpack ones. There were several brands, some very high end and many were really heavy (I'm not a big person and I'm getting pretty old too. heh). I ended up picking this one because it was the lowest weight one in the mid-range price. Along with it, I ordered a long extension cord and extra bags. (I noticed all backpack vacuums come with a short cord, which makes sense because everyone has different cord length needs depending on their needs. This way the extension cord can be anchored right on the vaccum)Anyway, long story short, I got the straps adjusted, read the manual, put it on and gave it a test run, and it was simply amazing! With it on my back, there are no worries about dragging a canister around furniture or the hose getting pulled out from hanging up on something. You have to sort of keep an eye on where you are dragging the cord so as not to get all tangled, but it was no problem. And the vacuum really SUCKS! A LOT! In anything else, that is a bad point, but in a vacuum, it's the most important feature, right? Here are the things I like best about this vacuum:1) Good suction. Seems to have a lot of power.2) weight is nice and low. It was very comfortable on my back and I'm an old lady, so I think anyone would not find this difficult weightwise.3) Construction. It seems really durable. The wand is solid metal and the hose and hose handle are very nicely designed and seem more substantial than other vacuums. The case is plastic but thick enough to be very durable. It just seems very well built for the price. The backpack frame is light but durable and well shaped for comfort.4) Toolbelt. One of the things I have always hated about most canisters is the tool attachment holders are always awful and you go to get your crevis tool to get beside the fridge and find it fell off somewhere back in one of the bedrooms. Well, that problem is OVER with this thing. Part of the backpack strapping stuff is a very nicely padded wide waist belt, and on the front of it are loops to hold your attachments. When you need one, it's right there in front of you!5) Rug/carpet attachment. I am extremely impressed with this. It is not electrified but it DOES have beaters that are run by the suction power. Very clever! It does a beautiful job on my large and small area oriental rugs and I think it would work on carpeting as well as any upright!6) loop to keep your extension cord from unplugging. A nice feature! All in all, I could find nothing wrong with this machine. The bags and filters seem easy to change/clean and the dirt-bag is as big as in many canisters. (I don't imagine you'd want too big a bag as that would be added weight). There is an added "shake out" bag that is washable, and a very nice Washable HEPA filter underneath it directly protecting the motor. There is also a washable intake filter on the outside which also protects the motor.
