Purchased incorrectly as this is German language, pity as looks good! Amazon refunded no quibble. Very good value if this is the translation you wanted.

im a big fan of tim burtons film coraline and i thought the book would be even better so i ordered it on amazon. it arived fairly quickly and i was very exited to read it but when i opened the book it was all in german. i was very disappointed by this as it did not state clearly that it was not in english. i then contacted the company to ask if i could swap the book for one that was english but they said i could only get a refund and even then i would have to pay for postage and packaging which ment i would be spending more money so now im stuck with a german book wondering what to do with it. not very impressed at all.

Clearly the last reviewer didn't read the "language" on the book description. It clearly states GERMAN. As for the Tim Burton reference. The less I say about that the better. ps HE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS MOVIE/BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have read the English edition of this book (my daughter loves it - and the film!) and it is a wonderful story. I especially like that the central character is a strong female role model, not something I thought would have been important until I had a daughter.Anyway I am reviewing the book here purely to balance out the two earlier reviews, I found this page by accident but instantly knew the following:This was the German (not dutch!) copy of Coraline in hardback.I worked this out by a) reading the title of the item (also the title of this review) and b) looking at the pictures of the cover.My advice, if you want the German (not dutch!) version of Coraline (in hardback) then buy this. If you want it in English, then buy that version (as I did).

Didn't realise it was in German. Being a non German speaker/reader, I can't understand a word of it and I don't want to be reading the book with a translator by my side

Amazing quality however in German Language we think. This wasn't stated on description so had to buy another book in English. however received full refund without having to return it. Thanks.

I love Coraline, and I'm thrilled to have it in German. Love the artwork too. I bought this to help me study. It's difficult to find kids books that are entertaining but still simple enough to assist with language learning. Because this is a story I know and love, it's super useful

Durch den Film bin ich auf das Buch gekommen. Ich musste mit Erstaunen feststellen, dass sich das Buch doch sehr vom Film unterscheidet, doch ist es eigentlich im Kern dieselbe Handlung. Es ist meiner Meinung nach aber etwas kurz, ich hätte gerne länger gelesen!Es ist meiner Meinung nach bei weitem nicht so gruselig wie der Film, doch bedeutet es nicht, dass es nicht mindestens genauso spannend ist! Aus diesem Grund habe ich es auch an nur einem Tag durchgelesen! :-)Besonders das Ende fand ich hier viel rührender als das Ende im Film und ich muss gestehen, dass mir beim Lesen von Kapitel 12 die Tränen kamen. Es war um einiges schöner beschrieben als die Filmversion.Ein großes Plus für das Buch ist es aber auch, dass man hier ein bisschen mehr über die andere Mutter erfährt, oder zumindest Andeutungen gemacht werden. Diese sind aber auch recht offen und während die Beldam (die "Vettel") im Film eine eindeutige Intention zeigt, ist dies im Buch eher weniger der Fall. Man weiß nicht was sie ist oder was sie wirklich will. Es werden lediglich Anspielungen gemacht.Alles in einem ein wirklich gutes Buch, wahrlich ein Meisterwerk!
